Aretha Franklin 1942-2018

Legendary singer Aretha Franklin has died, she was seventy-six years old.

The announcement made by her publicist, via NBC News, comes just days after it was announced that the “Queen of Soul,” was gravely ill.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, in March of 1942 to Baptist Preacher C.L. Franklin, Aretha began performing in front of the New Bethel Baptist Church congregation. Her father became her manager at the age of fourteen.

Her first album was released in 1956 called, Songs of Faith, but it wasn’t until the late 1960’s that Aretha’s music career blossomed.
