“President Donald Trump on Monday welcomed the president of Kenya to the White House, where the two leaders talked trade, security — and Trump’s accomplishments,” Washington Post reports.

“Trump and Kenyatta released a joint statement resolving to elevate the U.S-Kenya relationship to a “Strategic Partnership, affirming it as a cornerstone of peace, stability and good governance in Africa and the Indian Ocean region.” They said the partnership will include “an annual dialogue to advance mutual prosperity.”

“The positive sentiment from late last week continues and combined with an absence of bad news, the markets open the last week of August at record levels.  Although the Dow is still about 600 points shy of its record, this morning the Nasdaq Composite crossed above the 8,000 level for the first time,” Nasdaq reports.

President Trump met with the leaders of FIFA and the U.S. Soccer Federation today, Gianni Infantino and Carlos Cordeiro, respectively, and spoke about the U.S., Mexico, and Canada will be hosting the World Cup in 2026.
