Public Procession and National Memorial Service for Senator McCain

Senator John McCain’s friends and family have honored the life of the eighty-one year old Arizona senator in several memorial services in the week since his death from brain cancer. 

Saturday’s memorial service, includes a public procession, “from the United States Capitol to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial” according to John McCain’s website, his wife Cindy McCain, “will lay a ceremonial wreath honoring all whose lives were lost during the Vietnam War.” The procession starts at 8:30 a.m. eastern time. 

At 10 a.m. eastern the Memorial Service from Washington National Cathedral is scheduled to begin, Roll Call, posted a schedule of songs and tributes. 

Among the former President’s Bush and Obama, there are former senators, and cabinet leaders, including current Senator Lindsey Graham all offering words of remembrance. 

Among the known politician’s such as former Senator Lieberman, John McCain’s family, his daughter Meghan McCain, his daughter Sidney McCain, his son James McCain, will also offer their own tributes to their late father. 

The Pallbearers will include Former Vice President Joe Biden, Actor Warren Beatty, former Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg, along with several former Senators, Russ Feingold, Phil Gramm, Gary Hart, former cabinet members, William Cohen, Tom Ridge, former Chief of Staff for Senator McCain, Mark Salter, and current Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. Friends, Stephen Dart, Richard Davis, Carla Eudy, Ronald Perelman, Fred Smith, Vladimir Kara-Murza. 

Following Saturday’s service Senator McCain will be laid to rest on Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy Cemetery following a  private Memorial Service.
