As many of you may know, Thomas McInerney, a retired United States Air Force Lieutenant General, was banned from being a commentator on Fox Business. The ban was for smearing U.S. Sen. McCain (R, AZ) by saying Sen. McCain helped the enemy in Vietnam.

While many are not fond of PolitiFact, they researched this claim and found it to be a “pants on fire” lie
It says that when he was a POW, McCain was a “Hanoi Hilton songbird” who collaborated with the enemy.
But it provides scant evidence to back up this claim and it is strongly contradicted by many other accounts reviewed by PolitiFact: interviews with other POWs, an author who has written a McCain biography and the senator’s own accounts.
Yet another smear circulating the Internet again, as recent as yesterday, is that Sen. McCain, then aboard the Forrestal as a lieutenant commander piloting an A-4 Skyhawk for the U.S. Navy, did a “wet start” on his jet and caused the fire that claimed the lives of 134 sailors, and left permanently disabled another 161 who were dismissed from active duty.
This claim was also researched by PolitiFact and found to be a “pants on fire” lie:
This charge has been leveled against McCain before, as the event did come up during his 2008 presidential campaign. But official reports and other accounts don’t support the assertion that he was responsible.
That being said, I completely agree with those folks that don’t like some of the comments Sen. McCain has made and don’t agree with his politics. However, as a Vietnam Veteran, I have no reason not to respect his service to our Nation, while keeping separate his service as a U.S. Senator.
Have we lost our compassion for the terminally ill? Do we no longer consider the feelings of the grieving love ones? Are we, as a Nation and as Christians, coming to the point the Bible speaks of in Matthew 24:12?
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
Though I believe that will surely come to pass, I don’t believe we are that Nation yet.
I believe most of us still consider facts, still believe in our fellow Christian brothers and sisters-mankind, and still have common decency in our concern for others.
I’ll leave it at this, I pray for Sen. McCain and his family as I do for our President and myself, that they may have a life filled with God, that they may repent of their sins, and that they may leave this life peacefully and reside in the presence of our Lord Jesus the Christ.
