White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Sunday defended her husband’s criticism of President Trump on Twitter and chided CNN for asking about his tweets.

Conway insisted on CNN’s “State of the Union” that her husband “writes a lot of things that are also supportive” of Trump, before lashing out at the network over the question.

Mnuchin to lead U.S. delegation to Jerusalem embassy opening

From Axios

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin is expected to lead the United States’ delegation to the inauguration ceremony of the new American embassy in Jerusalem on May 14th, Israeli officials told me.

The big picture: The Israeli Foreign Ministry and Prime Minister’s office have started to prepare for the embassy event and for welcoming the delegation. The officials added the Israeli government want to use the event to give diplomatic boost to U.S.-Israeli relations and to the Israeli efforts to convince other countries to move their embassies to Jerusalem. On May 16th, Guatemala is expected to move its embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem.

GOP Fundraiser Sues Qatar Over Stolen Emails

From WSJ

Republican fundraiser Elliott Broidy sued Qatar on Monday, accusing the Middle East emirate of trying to discredit him by stealing and leaking emails that detailed his contacts with the Trump administration and Persian Gulf rival, the United Arab Emirates.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Los Angeles, adds another layer of intrigue to a complicated narrative that has connected a Middle East dispute to Republican fundraisers, the Trump White House and special counsel Robert Mueller’s examination of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Retiring Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) could muster up only lukewarm praise for his party’s leading contender to replace him in November’s election, and again offered kind words for the main Democratic candidate.

“I’m supporting the nominee,” Corker said of Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday. “I have worked with the nominee for some time. And I don’t know what else to say.”

Trump says US has not ‘given up anything’ in North Korea talks

From CNN Politics

Trump declared Sunday morning the United States has not “given up anything” in negotiations with North Korea in response to criticism that Pyongyang is getting more out of the talks than Washington.

“Wow, we haven’t given up anything & they have agreed to denuclearization (so great for World), site closure, & no more testing!” Trump tweeted.

The President followed up with a second tweet that said, “We are a long way from conclusion on North Korea, maybe things will work out, and maybe they won’t — only time will tell.”
