Earlier this morning it was reported that the toddler at the heart of four month long legal battle over his medical care has died. Alfie Evans was 23 months old.
His father Thomas Evans sent this message on Facebook.
Pope Francis, who offered Alfie and his family a place in Italy to continue medical care offered his condolences on twitter.
I am deeply moved by the death of little Alfie. Today I pray especially for his parents, as God the Father receives him in his tender embrace.
