President George H.W. Bush had been admitted to the ICU 2 weeks ago for a blood infection as The News Blender covered on April 23rd.
Earlier this week President Bush took to Twitter to express his desire to get back home.
Quite moved by this announcement by @MethodistHosp. The atrium is beautiful, but recent developments notwithstanding I have not taken up residence here. The doctors, nurses and support staff are so nice, but the second I get the green light I’m outta here. https://t.co/VkWHmxzI6c

First lady Barbara Bush, his wife of 73 years, passed away at age 92 on April 17th, just a few days before President Bush was admitted to the hospital.
The Associated Press reported, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, indicated during his eulogy at his mother’s funeral service that his father had been hospitalized recently at the same time Barbara Bush was in the hospital for the last time:
Those hospitalizations were not publicly disclosed at the time. Jeb Bush said he believed his father “got sick on purpose so that he could be with her.”
