Michael Flynn Has A New Gig Or Not (Updated)

On Tuesday former President Trump’s National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, made a brief appearance in court at the request of Judge Emmet Sullivan, who CNN reports, simply wanted to meet Flynn, before Flynn is sentenced. Flynn plead guilty to lying to FBI investigators back in December.

In the thirteen minute appearance Judge Sullivan discussed with those present a rough time-line as to how quick sentencing for Flynn would happen, after Flynn is done cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office.

Flynn’s lawyer, Robert Kelner told the Judge, via CNN, “General Flynn is eager to proceed to sentencing when that is possible,” General Flynn does want to bring this chapter of his life.”

The Wall Street Journal, Tuesday Morning reported the next chapter in Flynn’s life is working for a new Washington lobbying firm, Stonington Global, run by Nick Muzin and Jospeh Allaham.

Flynn is set to be the director of global strategy, NBC reports, Flynn “will direct the firm’s business development and provide strategic consulting on international military and peacekeeping activities.”

Nick Muzin who once worked for Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) as an aide, along with his partner Joseph Allaham, lobbied on behalf of Qatar. Muzin announced via twitter early in June that their lobbying work with Qatar has ended.

Muzin was recently sued by Trump Fundraiser Elliott Broidy, who also named Qatar in the lawsuit, NBC news reported, alleging that they were responsible for hacking Broidy’s emails.

CNN and NBC both reported that supporters and protesters alike awaited Flynn at the Courthouse, signs reading, “lock him up,” or “Clear Michael Flynn.”

Flynn is just one of the twenty people and entities that have been indicted in connection with Mueller’s Russian probe.

Update

CNN reports that according to Flynn’s lawyers Robert Kelney and Stephen Anthony Flynn while aware of that a statement was being drafted he made no such statements or authorized the release of a statement personally and he will not be working for Stonington Global. They said that the release of the statement appears to have been a misunderstanding:

“The Wall Street Journal reported today that Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Michael T. Flynn has joined the firm Stonington Global LLC and quoted a statement that it attributed to General Flynn. General Flynn has not joined Stonington and did not personally issue any public statement. He was aware that a statement was being drafted, but he did not intend that it be issued at this time. Its issuance now in his name appears to have been the result of a misunderstanding,”

The Wall Street Journal has also updated their story to reflect the lawyers statement.
