CNN: Pentagon under secretary Robert Wilkie was confirmed on Monday, the vote was 86-9. In his confirmation hearing Wilkie pledged not to privatize health care and signaled his willingness to disagree with the President.

Harley-Davidson — On Tuesday Harley-Davidson announced their second quarter results. The statement published on their website states that on July 30, 2018 the company will share details about “its accelerated strategy for growth.” In the 2nd quarter report the motorcycle company explained that international retail sales were up 0.7 percent while U.S. retail sales were down 6.4 percent, which decreased sales by 3.6 percent world wide. It goes on to say that “the company adjusted its outlook relating to the following and now expects:”
- Motorcycles segment operating margin as a percent of revenue to be approximately 9 to 10 percent given the expected impact of tariffs in 2018
- Financial Services segment operating income to be flat to up slightly given strong year-to-date performance
*CNBC news reports that President Trump’s tweet has received push back from some lawmakers, such as Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) who told CNBC on Tuesday, “They are taxes, paid by Americans, that harm consumers, workers, and companies.”

During the U.S. Russian Summit from Helsinki, Finland, joint press conference (USA Today) Vladimir Putin was asked, “And did you direct any of your officials to help him do that?” in regards to helping a candidate Trump beat a candidate Hillary Clinton. Putin answers, “Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the U.S.-Russia relationship back to normal.”
