One of the defining characteristics of the Deep State is that it is everywhere. Even those who would never be considered part of the Deep State can suddenly be revealed as such, the moment they are needed.
It’s a CONSPIRACY. OooooooOOoooooOOooo (say this aloud. Wiggle your fingers, if you can. It adds to the effect.)
Deep State members get to shift around to fill any role at a moment’s notice. And sometimes they need to bake that way, too.
When you’ve got some visitors due to come by the house (office, underground lair) and you only have only your basic pantry ingredients and an hour or so to make delicious baked goods, you need… Emergency cake!
Note: your basic pantry must include plums, or this recipe doesn’t work.
Emergency Plum Cake
Ingredients
- One box yellow cake mix
- One cup water
- Half cup vegetable oil
- Three eggs
- Two tablespoons cinnamon
- Two teaspoons ginger
- Three plums, sliced
Instructions:
Grease a 13 x 9 pan. Preheat oven to 350 F.
In a large bowl, combined all of the ingredients, except the plums. Mix thoroughly.
Pour the mixture evenly into the greased pan. Atop the cake mixture, arrange the plum slices. They will sink inward to some degree.
Bake for 35 minutes. The top of the cake should become a light golden brown.
Remove cake from oven. Let sit long enough to avoid burning one’s mouth when eating the cake.
Ideally cakes should be frosted, or glazed, or drizzled… but this is emergency cake. It scoffs at frosting.
