In march of this year, Burt Reynolds spoke with The New York Times, speaking to them about his latest film project called, The Last Movie Star, the iconic actor, arrived with a cane, his body according to the article, showed all the signs of damage done by his instance of doing his own stunts in the 70’s and 80’s, but the writer adds, “that storied charisma was still there,” as he joked his way slowly through the New York Times office building.

He spoke of the difference between being an actor in the 70’s and now, he said, “In the ’70s, [people in the industry] protected you a little more.” He added, “If I was as tough as I’m made out to be in movies, I wouldn’t have to worry. But I can’t beat my way out of a paper bag now. I’m too beat up. I haven’t had two hours of no pain for, gosh, I don’t know, honey, 20 years.”

He jokes about working with an unnamed actress and telling the actress “We’ll have a good time,” to which the unnamed actress said, “Hold it. We’re not going to have a good time. I’m not one of your girls.” Reynolds told the actress in reply, “What are you talking about? I’ve had an affair [on the set] with two women in 50 years. Sally Field and my ex-wife [Loni Anderson]. Should have married the first one and not the second one.”

Burt Reynolds and Actress Loni Anderson were divorced in 1988 the couple share an adopted son, Quinton.

On a personal note while I enjoyed many of his movies, one of my favorites is The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. It stars country music singer/actress Dolly Parton.
