Since January 16th, President Trump has tweeted twice a day, until Friday.
It’s Friday.
The week has been long.
Monday, the government was shutdown.
Tuesday, the government was shutdown.
Wednesday, the government was shutdown, and the Speaker of the House sent President Trump a letter.
Thursday, the government was shutdown, and President Trump issued his own letter, and Buzzfeed News as seen at the News Blender, raised a Buzz on Twitter, and media outlets alike.
It’s Friday, but I repeat myself.
Friday found President Trump tweeting 9 times (so far).
1. “We’ve found prayer rugs out here. It’s unreal.”…
The Washington Examiner on Wednesday published an article speaking to a border rancher that, “asked to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation by cartels who move the individuals.” The border rancher, that the article refers to as “her” lives with her family “in a remote southwestern part of the state,” tells the Examiner that, “There’s a lot of people coming in not just from Mexico. People, the general public, just don’t get the terrorist threats of that. That’s what’s really scary. You don’t know what’s coming across. We’ve found prayer rugs out here. It’s unreal. It’s not just Mexican nationals that are coming across.”
The article includes a tweet from Customs and Border Patrol, who “did not respond to multiple interview requests,” that states in the “last 5 days,” they had arrested people from 7 countries.”
The rancher goes on to explain to the Examiner that she talked to border agents that she trusts, “There’s not a lot that I do trust, but the ones I do trust, I talk to them,” according to her, these trusted border agents told her they’ve seen an increase of OTM’s [other than Mexicans] illegally attempting to cross the border such as the Chinese, Germans, Russians, and “a lot of Middle Easterners, those Czechoslovakians they caught over on our neighbor’s just last summer.”
According to a Border Patrol report for the fiscal year of 2017, the number of Czechoslovakians that tried to enter illegal at the Southern Border was zero, while only 1 tried to enter at the coastal border. (h/t to LiliVonShtupp for posting the report in the comment section of the Night Owl).
2. Why would Nancy Pelosi leave the Country with other Democrats on a seven day excursion when 800,000 great people are not getting paid.
On Wednesday Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi requested that President Trump postpone his State of the Union address while the government remains partially closed. He in turn prevented the Speaker from traveling aboard on what the Speaker calls “government business.”
Friday Drew Hammill, Pelosi’s Deputy Chief of Staff issued several tweets explaining the nature of the trip that she and her delegation were scheduled to take.
In response to Hammill’s statement, a White House official according to Reuters reporter Jeff Mason, via Twitter, calls the charge that they knowingly risked the safety of any American an “offensive flat out lie,” the official added, once the delegation including Speaker Pelosi booked the commercial flights “the world was going to find out.”
3. “It’s the Democrats keeping everything closed.”
Opinion: We’ve been round and round with this blame game, the answer is simple, the House has passed several funding measures some opening the government until February 8th, as the Senate Continuing Resolution did, before House Republican’s and President Trump refused to support the C.R. as it lacked money specifically for a Southern Border Wall. Other House passed bills funded agencies until Sept, 2019.
The Senate in which the Republican’s still hold the majority, led by Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have brought to the Senate zero of these funding measures. McConnell has stated several times, his reason for denying the bills is they are just “show votes” and he added, he will not bring anything up for vote that President Trump hasn’t already agreed to sign before handed.
4. Very hard to stop without a Wall!
The Washington Post reported on Thursday that the caravan, that consists “mainly of Honduran migrants,” had started to enter the border of Mexico “peacefully” avoiding the “confrontations” that the Mexican border saw from fall’s migrant caravans.
According to the article, this new caravan simply showed “identification bracelets,” which were issued to them by Mexican officials which allowed them to walk into the border town of Ciudad Hidalgo.
The article notes the estimate right now of the number of migrants is 1800, but adds “many of the migrants were still travelling through Guatemala, and it was difficult to say how big the caravan would be once it began making its way through southern Mexico.”
For What It’s Worth: As we’ve seen many times over the years, these caravans of migrants, that travel together in large number, almost always, cross into our country at ports of entry, which already have secure fences, walls, and agents…
5. Watch father-in-law!
As the News Blender reported Friday, Thursday Buzzfeed News dropped an article that states at the direction of the President, Michael Cohen, his onetime lawyer and “fixer,” lied to Congress about a business deal that then-candidate Trump was working on with Russia called the Moscow Project.
Buzzfeed explains in the article this newly reported piece of information, that comes weeks before Cohen is scheduled to testify to the House, was given to them by “two federal law enforcement officials involved in an investigation of the matter.”
The article goes on to say that the Special Counsel’s Office, led by Robert Mueller, “learned about Trump’s directive for Cohen to lie to Congress through interviews with multiple witnesses from the Trump Organization and internal company emails, text messages, and a cache of other documents. Cohen then acknowledged those instructions during his interviews with that office.”
Opinion: At this point as has been pointed out all over the internet based on court documents publicly available since Cohen pleaded guilty in both the Southern District Court, and in a separate case brought by Special Counsel Mueller, we know that President Trump, lied about the nature and length of time that the Moscow Project was being pursued, we also know that Cohen lied to Congress, when he said he had no dealings with the Russian’s over the project and the length of time in which the deal was sought. The only unknown to the public at this point is this, is there proof President Trump directed Cohen to lie to Congress?
If true as Judiciary Committee Member Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) notes via tweet:
Buzzfeed is standing by their reporting according to MSNBC via tweet:
Also worth noting President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani is quoted by many sources as saying in response to the article, “If you believe Cohen I can get you a great deal on the Brooklyn Bridge.
White House spokesman Hogan Gidley was asked three times by Fox News if the President asked Cohen to lie, Gidley, did not answer the question.
6. Stop Criminals & Drugs now!
Opinion: This is happening a lot more lately, it’s just that, at this point, it’s almost the only thing that’s left as the government remains partially closed now for almost 30 days…Anyway, when I read things like “Stop Criminals & Drugs now!” From our President, I’m automatically reminded of the “socialist utopia” that the R’s are sure the D’s want…this idea that a wall in fact will “Stop criminals” or the drugs, is their form of utopia, a fantasy to explain away bad things that happen in this country, as Halodoc’s article noted this morning, we have had an opioid epidemic in this country for 20 years, now I don’t think “government” is the answer to solve the crisis, I do believe that this article shows that a wall simply will not Stop Criminals & Drugs Now!
7. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
8. AMERICA FIRST!
Opinion: These all caps tweets, shortly after a big story that paints President Trump in a negative light, typically signal that the story is either mostly true, or all true…This is not a scientific or even provable opinion, this is just based on my studying of the tweets and his patterns.
For what it’s worth: After issuing these two all caps tweets, plus the 9th tweet that will be posted right after, President Trump was meeting in the Oval Office with Kim Young Chol, the Vice Chairman of the Workers Party of Korea to discuss any process the country has made toward, “final, fully verified denuclearization.”
9. Thank you to our law enforcement!
Trump: Everything we are asking for whether it’s the wall or barrier, whether it’s the technology, whether it’s thee drug detecting equipment. This is what law enforcement wants. This is what they need. Wait until you see the results. They’ll be proud of it and we’ll be even prouder. And I want to thank them. Whether it’s law enforcement of any kind, border patrol, ICE, spectacular people, thank you for the job you do.
And on that note. HAPPY FRIDAY y’all…
