Trump Tweets: The Blender Turns A Year Old Edition

It’s Wednesday.

We are all currently in limbo as we await the redacted version of the Mueller Report to be dropped sometime on Thursday.

In other news, the News Blender has turned 1 year old.

When we started, I had this idea that I would consistently cover Trump’s Tweets, oh, don’t get me wrong, people covered them, but what I found was in most cases, he got very little pushback on his tweets.

Many outlets would just read his tweet on air, roll their eyes, and move on to something else.

Many outlets would just publish the tweet without much context to explain it.

This is unless of course it was easy to place in context as in when he nominates someone or fires them or simply in all caps writes WITCH HUNT, via tweet.

I also hate them, I resent them most days, but here’s the thing, I knew back in 2016, I knew his tweets would become normal. I knew that most in DC would brush them off as having zero importance to his policies.

Is that true?

It’s not.

Here’s why, he tweets he’s going to close the border between us and Mexico, and what happens, little in fact did happen, save the White House staff, his “inner circle,” are seriously considering this as an option to stop immigration, not just illegal immigration, but immigration as a whole.

He has via tweet made the term Asylum seeker and illegal entry alien equal in meaning, when they are two separate things. I’m aware the illegal entry alien can in fact apply for Asylum, but an Asylum seeker themselves who comes to a port of entry to apply for Asylum, is not doing anything illegal.

He has successfully numbed us, myself included to his brand of crazy on Twitter, we expect now, we even accept it.

In covering the tweets, I’m allowed to vent my frustration with them, vent my resentment of them, while also forcing myself as a hater of the tweets, to cover them almost-every one objectively to present the context of them to you the reader.

The reader is important to me. You are my reason for remaining mostly calm and carrying on.

Without a reader, without each one of you that comments on an article, that shares their own takes, that share their own news, I would have (probably) packed up the tweets a long time ago, I’d have stopped caring altogether, because I’d have simply walked away entirely from politics.

This place has given me the ability to carry on, to stay engaged with what matters, if our government is ignored, if we do not stand for what is right, our government will fall, our Republic will fall, and that is simply not acceptable.

This place and the readers, not just those that comment, but the reader in general give me hope. Hope is a beautiful emotion that comes when we are down, when we are angry, when we are tired.

It is you the reader and not us the writers that should be celebrated today as we reflect on the year that passed, without readers a blog is rather pointless, without you, we wouldn’t be turning a month old let alone a year old. Without you, I wouldn’t feel confident to continue on, writing for both the News Blender and Lenny’s site Snip Bytes.

For that I say Thank You. Thank you for your time, your support, thank you dear reader, for not being completely insane, and keeping us the writers sane in the process.

Now enough mushy stuff and onward to another day of Trump Tweets…

So far President Trump has tweeted 2 times.

1. Wow! FBI made 11 payments to Fake Dossier’s discredited author, Trump hater Christopher Steele.

On Tuesday Judicial Watch announced that they filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Justice, “for records of communications and payments between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele and his private firm, Orbis Business Intelligence.”

In the announcement they explain, “In a case seeking information between January 1, 2016, and March 8, 2017, Judicial Watch previously released FBI records showing that Steele was cut off as a “Confidential Human Source” in November 2016 after he disclosed his relationship to the FBI to a third party. The documents show that there were at least 11 FBI payments to Steele in 2016.”

In August of 2018 NBC News reported that, “The FBI has released 71 pages of what it describes as correspondence between the bureau and Christopher Steele, the former British spy who authored a dossier alleging collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia.”

They explain that the heavily redacted documents “show FBI payments to Steele as a Confidential Human Source (CHS) over an unknown period. They also show that Steele told the FBI he had informed a third party he was acting as a CHS for the bureau, and that the FBI determined Steele had been a source for an online article.”

As the article notes, “Because of the redactions, it is not possible to tell when payments to Steele began, but it has previously been reported that he assisted the FBI with past investigations, including a probe of corruption in international soccer.”

Apparently someone else is anxious for the report drop on Thursday…

2. Democrats in Congress must return from their Vacations and change the Immigration Laws…

Republicans in Congress are also on recess for the Easter Holiday.

Opinion

“will only get worse.”

Chaos begets chaos.

When you have an administration who is attempting to work outside the legal limits of our immigration laws, the border will be harmed, those that work daily at the border will be stressed.

It’s chaos brought about by incompetence of our government.

3. It’s a re-tweet.

This post will be updated within reason.

This is an Open Thread.

Happy Anniversary Blenders!

Correction

On Tuesday when I covered this tweet, I mixed up my Saturdays. It is not this Saturday but the week after.

I apologize for the error.

Thank you, @Tyrconnell for pointing the error out.
