Propaganda Watch: Russian Social Media Ads–7/20/19

This is part of an ongoing series where I review some of the ads purchased by the Russians. In doing so I hope we can get a better understanding of what they were trying to do, and how to recognize it the next time we’re faced with propaganda.

If you want to follow along, the ads can all be downloaded here. All of today’s ads can be found in the 2016-q1/2016-02 folder.

The ads posted for United Muslims of America were few and repetitive. The images are similar to those in previous months, as well as stating the same sentiments. You’ll notice they all use the same logo image but with different text. P(1)0003659:

They all have the same target audience as well–those who like Zaid Shakir, Abu Eesa Niamatullah, and Muslims for America. Whether it’s laziness on the Russian’s part, or a lack of knowledge about Islam in America, or even being low on the priority list, so far their efforts at attracting the Muslim constituency is minimal at best.

THIS IS AN OPEN THREAD. Hope you all have a great weekend.
