The news these days is often depressing at worst and frustrating at best. It’s easy to get caught up in the spin cycle and let it get us down. Never fear… The News Blender has you covered. Once a week we feature Something Good and, in return, all you have to do is tell us something good that has happened to you this week, something you are thankful for, a joke, a cute animal story, an inspiring tale of heroics, a Random Act of Kindness… SOMETHING good.
This week’s Something Good is an “angel on earth”.
When Kevin Butcher was shopping for clothes to wear to his father’s funeral, he realized he didn’t know how to tie a tie. He and his wife, Sherri, saw an older gentleman nearby and decided to ask him if he would show Kevin how to do it.
The gentleman gladly helped Kevin get the tie just right, then hugged him and expressed his sympathy with Kevin’s loss. After thanking Kevin for “letting” him help, he told Sherri to “take good care of him” as the couple walked away.
Sherri posted the heartwarming story on Facebook.
But that wasn’t the end of the story. When Kevin and Sherri walked into the funeral home, Mr. Hackler was waiting there to have a prayer with them. Sherri posted the follow up on Facebook, calling Mr. Hackler “an absolute angel on earth”.
It’s funny how a simple gesture of kindness can make all the difference in the world to someone in need. May we all strive to be as kind to the people around us as Mr. Hackler was to Kevin and Sherri.
Now it’s your turn… Tell me Something Good!
