Propaganda Watch: Russian Social Media Ads–11/9/19

This is part of an ongoing series where I review some of the ads purchased by the Russians. In doing so I hope we can get a better understanding of what they were trying to do, and how to recognize it the next time we’re faced with propaganda.

If you want to follow along, the ads can all be downloaded here. All of today’s ads can be found in the 2016-q2/2016-05 folder.

There were over 300 entries for May 2016. I’m still going through them, so it’s possible I’ll be revisiting some of the topics as I find more ads that pop up later on. One thing’s for certain–they wasted no time promoting Trump and knocking Clinton. P(1)0000028 states “Hilary Doesn’t Deserve Black Votes” among other things:

P(1)0000108 plays to the pro-military crowd and states that the majority of the troops support Trump:

P(1)0002317 takes a very interesting approach, in light of what happened since then–vote for Trump because the Saudi prince doesn’t want you to:

I apologize in advance if the topics get repeated or redundant, but I may add more to these topics as I find the ads.

THIS IS AN OPEN THREAD. Take care, and have a fantastic Saturday.
