The news these days is often depressing at worst and frustrating at best. It’s easy to get caught up in the spin cycle and let it get us down. Never fear… The News Blender has you covered. Once a week we feature Something Good and, in return, all you have to do is tell us something good that has happened to you this week, something you are thankful for, a joke, a cute animal story, an inspiring tale of heroics, a Random Act of Kindness… SOMETHING good.
This week our theme is love, both human and animal, and the California wildfires.
First, we have a team of celebrity chefs, Guy Fieri, Tyler Florence, Traci Des Jardins, Chris Cosentino, and José Andrés from World Central Kitchen, who are feeding First Responders and evacuees from the Kincaid Fire in northern California. The group of chefs and their team consisting of hundreds of volunteers have been feeding about 6,000 people a day. The team also served meals to the Cal Fire pilots last week, according to the Press Democrat.
Guy Fieri, who was evacuated when his home in Santa Rosa was in the path of the Tubbs Fire, helped feed about 5,000 people a day in 2017. In 2018, he and his team served a Thanksgiving meal to those affected by the Camp Fire.
Humans aren’t the only ones showing love in the face of daunting circumstances in California. The Easy Fire burned in Simi Valley and horse owners scrambled to get their equine friends to safety. Video of a horse, being led away from the fire by rescuers went viral this past week. The horse pulled away from rescuers as he was being led to safety and ran back through the smoke to make sure two other horses, one that was a foal, were on their way out as well.
Love and service are Something Good we can think about as we start the new week.
Now it’s your turn… Tell me Something Good that happened to you this week!
