The news these days is often depressing at worst and frustrating at best. It’s easy to get caught up in the spin cycle and let it get us down. Never fear… The News Blender has you covered. Once a week we feature Something Good and, in return, all you have to do is tell us something good that has happened to you this week, something you are thankful for, a joke, a cute animal story, an inspiring tale of heroics, a Random Act of Kindness… SOMETHING good.

This week’s Something Good is a heart warming story that happened a few years ago and remains a reminder of what a powerful force love is and what America stands for.

In 2012, Alik, pregnant and accompanied by her two young children, came to America from Sudan and landed in Fort Worth. Alik and the children had escaped the war-torn country but had been separated from Dyan, her husband, according to The North Hill.

Two women from The Village Church and volunteers with Catholic Charities took Alik and her children under their wings as the family settled into life in Texas. Molly and Mary were determined to bring Dyan, who was stuck in a refugee camp in Egypt, to the US to be reunited with his family but were told it would take a miracle.

After four years of prayers and work, the miracle occurred and Dyan stepped off a plane to greet the family he had not seen for years.

This story is a beautiful way to end 2019 and start the new year to come. Now it’s your turn… tell me something good!
