The news these days is often depressing at worst and frustrating at best. It’s easy to get caught up in the spin cycle and let it get us down. Never fear… The News Blender has you covered. Once a week we feature Something Good and, in return, all you have to do is tell us something good that has happened to you this week, something you are thankful for, a joke, a cute animal story, an inspiring tale of heroics, a Random Act of Kindness… SOMETHING good.

Today’s something good is a viral video for the romantic in us all.

Lee Loechler recently surprised his high school sweetheart, Sthuthi David, with a “beauty” of a marriage proposal that has gone viral for its sweetness and creativity.

Lee, a medical resident, worked with an Australian illustrator to illustrate he and Sthuthi into her favorite movie – “Sleeping Beauty”. He then rented a screening room at Coolidge Corner Theatre while the two of them were back in their hometown of Brookline, Massachusetts for the holidays.

After six months of illustration time, Sthuthi’s mom excitedly informed Sthuthi she had bought tickets to a showing of “Sleeping Beauty” while Sthuthi was home and Lee could come too, if he wanted. Sthuthi’s friends and family sat in the back of the room while volunteers from Reddit recruited by Lee filled out the theatre on night of the proposal, according to CNN.

All of Lee’s efforts to surprise his girlfriend paid off. Video of the event shows Sthuthi become confused as the characters changed during the scene where Prince Philip wakes Princess Aurora with a kiss. Lee stood to “catch” the ring box tossed to him by the on screen prince, then knelt in front of his incredulous girlfriend.

“It’s not everyday you get to propose to your high school sweetheart,” Lee said. “I love you with my whole heart, including all of its ventricles, atriums, valves.” He clarified for anyone in the audience who didn’t know, “She’s a cardiologist.” The stunned Sthuthi, said yes to Lee’s question, “Will you live happily ever after with me” and the audience applauded.

A young couple starting off their lives together with a bit of on screen magic is Something Good.

Now it’s your turn… Tell me something good.
