Propaganda Watch: Russian Social Media Ads–6/28/2020

This is part of an ongoing series where I review some of the ads purchased by the Russians. In doing so I hope we can get a better understanding of what they were trying to do, and how to recognize it the next time we’re faced with propaganda.

Here are more September 2016 ads that saw four postings apiece. P(1)0004468, p(1)0004470, p(1)0004472, and p(1)0004474 highlighted a video that was recorded on a bus of Montgomery Middle School students singing a song that included a racial slur. Later investigations revealed that many of those singing that song were themselves African American:

Seattle Mariners catcher Steve Clevenger’s racist tweets were the subject of p(1)0004530, p(1)0004532, p(1)0004534, and p(1)0004536:

P(1)0004811, p(1)0004813, p(1)0004815, and p(1)0004817 address the charges of excessive force used by officer Betty Shelby:
