Propaganda Watch: Russian Social Media Ads–7/5/2020

This is part of an ongoing series where I review some of the ads purchased by the Russians. In doing so I hope we can get a better understanding of what they were trying to do, and how to recognize it the next time we’re faced with propaganda.

By this point they’d gotten much better at creating incendiary posts. While p(1)0004578 claims to be a French cartoon, multiple reverse image search engines put this as the earliest appearance of the image:

P(1)0004690 is another cartoon that appears to have originated with this ad:

With p(1)0004760, it’s not as much the image itself (which is unfortunately all too common) but the caption that was meant to inflame:
