The news these days is often depressing at worst and frustrating at best. It’s easy to get caught up in the spin cycle and let it get us down. Never fear… The News Blender has you covered. Once a week, we feature Something Good and, in return, all you have to do is tell us something good that has happened to you this week, something you are thankful for, a joke, a cute animal story, an inspiring tale of heroics, a Random Act of Kindness… SOMETHING good.

Today’s Something Good is simple kindness in the form of gummy bears.

Bobby Clayton, of North Carolina, was at Wal-Mart with his sons, Harvey and Rider. As they were checking out, a kind lady chatted with family about the upcoming holiday weekend. She then asked if she could buy the boys something and led them to the candy rack when their dad said yes. The boys each picked out a package of gummy bears and thanked the woman.

Bobby told WFMY that he asked the lady’s name but she walked off, apparently wanting her small act of kindness to be anonymous.

To Bobby, the simple kindness to his kids meant something and he posted on his Facebook page about the incident. He hoped it inspired others to be kind and respectful of each other.

“She didn’t know us at all, and the only thing she seemed to care about was to put a smile on my kids’ faces. And to me that just says a lot. She just wanted to bring joy to my kids,” Bobby said.

His Facebook post concluded, “To this lady, I want to say thank you again from the bottom of my heart for making my kids smile today and showing them love and respect. I encourage everyone to try and do one good thing for somebody each and every day.”

It’s so easy to impact the lives of others with simple, small kindnesses and, right now, we shouldn’t forget that reality amid all the challenges our world faces. A couple of packages of gummy bears can make all the difference and that’s something good.

Now it’s your turn… Tell me something good!
