Propaganda Watch: Russian Social Media Ads–8/29/2020

This is part of an ongoing series where I review some of the ads purchased by the Russians. In doing so I hope we can get a better understanding of what they were trying to do, and how to recognize it the next time we’re faced with propaganda.

While the majority of Black interest posts came from Black Matters, there were a couple smaller groups whose ads were aimed at African Americans. P(1)0005402 (and three others) from the Pan African Roots group was aimed at promoting the MOVE 9, a group of activists arrested in 1978, some of whom were still incarcerated in 2016:

Woke Blacks had two different ads encouraging involvement. P(1)0005366:

P(1)0005372 (and one repeat) stated their group was worldwide, but was only targeted to the US:
