Propaganda Watch: Russian Social Media Ads–8/9/2020

This is part of an ongoing series where I review some of the ads purchased by the Russians. In doing so I hope we can get a better understanding of what they were trying to do, and how to recognize it the next time we’re faced with propaganda.

The October 2016 ads included support for the police. P(1)0005276 included advertised a group to fans of “The Thin Blue Line”:

P(1)0000995 advertised the same group, but with the tagline “Blue Lives Matter”:

P(1)0002269 not only brought up a specific incident, but took the opportunity to say that Clinton wouldn’t support the police if elected:
