Trump Tweets “They Know My Phone Number,” for Monday’s Open Thread

It’s Monday.

For Monday President Greatest Deal Maker Ever has tweeted 4 times and retweeted 0 times so far. In his first tweet he attempts to gaslight followers, by pretending that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), have not been attempting to reach a deal with the White House on Phase 4 of the coronavirus stimulus package.

The Washington Post reported on Friday ahead of President Memorandums “major news conference,” in which he attempted to create authority he does not have, that talks between Democrats and President Gaslighter which had reached it’s fifth day in a row had ended badly.

The talks on Capitol Hill had a dramatic and bitter unraveling. Trump and Democrats have been locked in brinkmanship for years but often found ways to reach agreement on spending packages, including four bipartisan coronavirus relief bills in March and April.

This time, there seemed to be little goodwill or trust, and both sides dug in even as the economic recovery showed signs of losing steam, millions of Americans remained unemployed and deaths from the novel coronavirus continued to climb.

The Washington Post. 08/07/2020.

CNBC News explained on Friday, that the stall over agreement on spending comes down to their failure to “bridge a gulf on how to continue enhanced federal unemployment benefits, help schools reopen safely during the pandemic, and aid state and local governments facing budget shortfalls during the outbreak.”

The meeting between White House negotiators, Secretary of Treasury Steven Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, with Democratic leadership lasted about 90 minutes on Friday.

Negotiators emerged from a 90-minute meeting in the Capitol on Friday appearing to have made minimal progress toward bridging a gulf over spending to combat a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. Both Democrats and White House officials pointed to fundamental disagreements over how to address the crisis, making it unclear when they could agree on legislation that could pass both chambers of Congress.

Also Friday, President Where Have They Been?, rejected the Democratic offer explaining “We are going a different way.”

Forbes explains that in July the Republicans in the Senate passed the HEALS ACT with a price tag of $1.1 trillion as originally proposed. In May the Democratic controlled House passed a $3 trillion stimulus called the HEROES Act.

The HEALS Act, which was proposed by Senate Republicans in July, would include $1,200 in stimulus payments to individuals and $500 per qualified dependent, which mimics payments made in the CARES Act which passed in March. This act also includes extended unemployment benefits, small business support, increased spending on education and healthcare and more. The cost of the HEALS Act, as originally proposed, would be $1.1 trillion.

The HEROES Act, which was passed by House Democrats in May, would give individuals $1,200 each and another $1,200 for dependents. However, the HEROES Act limits dependents to three, so the maximum a family could receive is capped at $6,000. At over $3 trillion dollars, the HEROES Act also includes a range of benefits meant to help bolster small businesses, provide student loan debt relief, reduce taxes and more.

Both the HEALS Act and the HEROES Act also include adult dependents in the calculation (unlike the CARES Act), so families with kids in college or disabled adult children stand to benefit.

On Saturday the different way President Doesn’t Play Well With Others went was signing what appear to be meaningless Executive memos that truly provide no immediate relief for those impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.

Highlights from the press conference held at his private resort in New Jersey.

In the first clip he whines about Democrats obstructing the Republican Senate pass HEALS Act.

Democrats are obstructing all of it.

Therefore, I’m taking executive action.  We’ve had it.  And we’re going to save American jobs and provide relief to the American workers, and I’ll be signing these bills in a very short period of time.

First one is on providing a payroll tax holiday to Americans earning less than $100,000 per year.

The White House. 08/08/2020.

In this second clip he brags about crowd size in Ohio, Texas, and Florida. He tosses in that news doesn’t cover it because it’s “fake news.”

And I was in Ohio, I was in Texas, I was in Florida over the last four or five days.  And if you would see the crowds along the highways and the roadways, people have said they’ve never seen anything like it, and they haven’t seen anything like it.  And the press doesn’t report it because they’re fake news.

The White House. 08/08/2020.

In his opening remarks he says he just signed two bills on Veterans Choice and Veterans Accountability.

Thank you very much everybody.  Thank you, and good afternoon.  My administration has been working around the clock in good faith to reach an agreement with Democrats on additional China virus relief.
Already, my administration has enacted over $3 trillion in historic relief, saving many tens of millions of dollars and jobs.  And you see how fast the economy is coming back.  It does look like it’s going to be a very sharp “V.”  We have tremendous enthusiasm, tremendous spirit, and tremendous job growth.  We set a record on number of jobs in the last three months.  It’s the most jobs ever created in a three-month period — during a three-month period.  That’s great.

Before we begin, I’ve just signed two bills that are great for our vets.  Our vets are very special.  We passed Choice, as you know — Veterans Choice — and Veterans Accountability.  And they’ve been trying to get that passed for decades and decades and decades, and no President has ever been able to do it.  And we got it done so veterans have Choice.  And now you have Accountability — that if you don’t love your vets, if you’re in the VA and you don’t love the vets or take care of the vets, you can actually get fired if you don’t do your job.  We want people that love our vets.

The White House. 08/08/2020.

When confronted about his lie that he passed Veterans Choice by CBS News reporter Paula Reid, the Strongest Man in the World, abruptly ends his news conference.

Paula Reid: Mr. President, though, this is expected to be tied up in the court.  So this relief is either going to be delayed or blocked indefinitely.
Asshole: Oh, I don’t think so.

Paula Reid:  Is this just political theater?
Asshole:  I think this is going to go very rapidly through the courts.

Paula Reid: But are you giving people false hope?
Asshole: This will go very — if — if we get sued.  Maybe we won’t get sued.  If we get sued, it’s somebody that doesn’t want people to get money.  Okay?  And that’s not going to be a very popular thing.

Paula Reid: But should a President be able to go around Congress?  Are you trying to set a new precedent —
Asshole:  No.  No.

Paula Reid:— that the President can go around Congress and decide how money is collected and spent?
Asshole:  You ever hear the word “obstruction”?

Paula Reid: Yes.  You were investigated for that.
Asshole:  They’ve obstructed.  Congress has obstructed.  The Democrats have obstructed people from getting desperately needed money.

Paula Reid: But this is in the Constitution, Mr. President.
Asshole:  Go ahead, please.  Right here.
Q: Mr. President, sir —
Paula Reid Why do you keep saying that you passed Veterans —
Asshole:  No, no.  You’re finished.
Go ahead, please.  Please.
AUDIENCE:  (Applause.) [Paying New Jersey Club Members]

Asshole:  Go ahead.

Paula Reid (Inaudible) [no it isn’t she asks: Why do you keep saying that you passed Veterans Choice? You said that you passed] Veterans Choice? It was passed in 2014.
Asshole:  Okay, excuse me.
Go ahead, please.

Paula Reid: But it’s a false statement, sir.
Asshole Coward:  Okay, thank you very much everybody.  Thank you very much.

Some information on the executive orders aka one executive order and three memos.

On Monday during an interview with CNBC News Mnuchin said the Trump administration was open to offering more money in the phase 4 stimulus package.

For What It’s Worth.

Sticking with the Executive Order theme, President I’m a Toddler calls Republican Senator for Nebraska, Ben Sasse a RINO, for daring to have a different opinion on EO’s to go around Congress.

who needed my support and endorsement in order to get the Republican nomination for Senate from the GREAT State of Nebraska

Total votes: 277,639

Ben Sasse was elected to office in 2014, with his term starting January 6th, 2015. From the New York Times Election 2014:
Sasse: 339,868 64.8%. His Democratic Challenger Dave Domina received 162,874 31.1% of the vote.

Yeah, he totally couldn’t have won without President Petty.

What did Sasse say that earned the Petty Thinned Skinned Man’s disapproval and mean tweet?

Sasse.senate.gov:

U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of both the Senate Judiciary and Finance Committees, issued the following statement on legislating by executive orders.

“The pen-and-phone theory of executive lawmaking is unconstitutional slop. President Obama did not have the power to unilaterally rewrite immigration law with DACA, and President Trump does not have the power to unilaterally rewrite the payroll tax law. Under the Constitution, that power belongs to the American people acting through their members of Congress.”

In contrast for his last tweet so far for Monday, President Love Me, Love Me, sent love to Senator Bill Cassidy for saying “smart words,” on President Love Me, Love Me’s, possibly unlawful executive actions.

President Try’s to Distract moves on to talk about Portland, Oregon.

The Mayor and Governor are putting people’s lives at risk.

Yeah, says the man demanding that schools reopen, and the country should just ignore the 163,077 deaths due to the coronavirus pandemic.

CBS News reported on Monday that Portland, Oregon, was once against declared a riot on Sunday night by authorities when “protesters marched to a police union building, blocked a road and set dumpster fires as officers work to quell nightly unrest in Oregon’s largest city. The protest was over almost as soon as it began outside the Portland Police Association building – the same building where protesters were dispersed after a fire was started inside the offices the night before.”

Update:

President Trying Really Hard, try’s to hard to distract from his poor leadership during a national crisis announces his intent to make more poor leadership choices.

He adds another tweet about student athletes and how they have worked so hard that their spots events shouldn’t be cancelled now.

Just a thought, but maybe all these whiners about the hard working student sports players losing their seasons, could have thought about them, before they screwed over the American people by fucking up the coronavirus pandemic response….

To be fair, I feel bad for sports players and fans alike, not to mention some small towns survive monetarily on college sports and high school sports as well, but the whining from political leaders over athletic commissions doing what they think is best for the health and safety of everyone, just pisses me off.

We had the chance in Feb., March, and April, to work the hardest at containing the virus, our leaders especially the top man in charge, President Dick for Brains, decided against that and instead divided us further over wearing a damn mask, and not hanging out with friends at bars.

They own it, all of it.

Press Secretary Lying Liar the Lies is scheduled to hold a press briefing this afternoon sometime after 1 p.m. D.C. time.

This post might be updated.

This is an Open Thread.

Programming note: I have decided against running live feeds for President Rambles press events, as they typically are just repeated lies. The goal would be to have a thread posted with highlights and facts just after the conclusion of the event, but we shall see how that works out. LOL.
