I don’t know about the rest of you, but and here I’m going to say the quiet part out loud, today, 19 years after our country suffered a horrific tragedy at the hands of terrorists, I’m struggling.
I’m struggling to understand how the collective we can sit here and mourn the loss of that life that day, while currently we have 191,842 dead American’s, due to the coronavirus, and be divided, be so at odds with people, that they are forgotten.
I confess, I wrote this mornings piece in order to separate the conflicting emotions this 9/11 anniversary is stirring within me, I’m angry today, resentful, and very sad.
And add to that, now we have proof, it didn’t have to be this way, just makes this day harder.
To be fair, I truly do not mean to disrespect this day given that there are grown children today, that have no memories of their parents, no memories of an aunt, an uncle, because they lost their lives 19 years ago, when they were toddlers.
It is a somber day, it should not be forgotten, neither should the 191,842 people.
