Propaganda Watch: Russian Social Media Ads–1/16/2021

This is part of an ongoing series where I review some of the ads purchased by the Russians. In doing so I hope we can get a better understanding of what they were trying to do, and how to recognize it the next time we’re faced with propaganda.

There was a handful of ads targeting Facebook employees. The first one, p(1)0005035 was posted under “Panther Melanie” seeking people to help her contact Facebook about creating her own sticker pack. It received no clicks.

P(1)0005943 was posted under “Melanie Panther” and targeted to male Facebook employees. It promised to show the five hottest women to apply for jobs at Facebook. Again, no clicks were received:

P(1)0005945 was posted under “Melanie Black” and promised the same. This time it got a whole nineteen clicks:
