It’s Wednesday.

For Wednesday, May 12th, 2021, President Biden will have received his daily brief. At 11:00 a.m. D.C., time he had a meeting with members of Congressional Leadership. Later this afternoon he will offer remarks on the coronavirus response and the state of the vaccination program.

When Tuesday’s Open Thread was posted President Biden had tweeted 1 time and retweeted 0 times so far. He added 6 tweets and kept to no retweets giving him a Tuesday total tweeting of 7 tweets and 0 retweets.

1:12 p.m. D.C., time he shared a live feed to his virtual meeting with a group of bipartisan group of Governors.

The streamed video is 59 minutes and 38 seconds long. President Biden begins speaking at the 3 minute and 8 second mark. His remarks can be found here. The timestamp provided by the White House has the meeting starting at 1:13 p.m. and concluding at 2:08 p.m. D.C., time.

1:16 p.m. D.C., time he says “more than 150 million Americans have gotten at least one shot.”

As is becoming his habit, a bad one, if you ask me, he’s once again, tweeted later in the evening a video clip of the same same in the above tweet. This time the tweet was posted at 7:20 p.m. D.C., time.

President Biden (6:10): Working together, we delivered over 220 million shots in my first 100 days — well beyond anyone’s expectations, but because of their cooperation.  And today, more than 150 million Americans have gotten at least one shot.  Over 115 million Americans are fully vaccinated.  Nearly 85 percent of people — excuse me — 65 and over have gotten at least one shot.  And whether it’s a red state or a blue state, Black, white, Latino, AAPI — Americans from every walk of life are getting their vaccines.  We got more to do though. Now, cases and hospitalizations and deaths are all down.  Tens of thousands of moms and dads, brothers and sisters, grandparents, neighbors, friends are still with us who, I believe — whom would have otherwise — we would have lost but for the work of these governors. And millions of Americans are starting to live life more normally after more than a year of sacrifice.  And I know everybody is tired of hearing me say this online here, but it isn’t Democratic progress or Republican progress, it’s American progress.

1:20 p.m. D.C., time he says that he’s excited to “share that starting May 24th, Uber and Lyft will offer everyone in America free rides to vaccination sites.”

President Biden (10:07): And today, I’m also announcing additional steps.  To ensure that transportation is less of a barrier, from May 24th through July 4th, Uber and Lyft — Uber and Lyft are both going to offer everyone free rides to and from vaccination sites.  I think that is really stepping up.  Both Uber and Lyft — free rides to — they’ll wait — and from — they’ll take you back home.

At 6:15 p.m. D.C., time he posts a photo of himself saying that he met with a bipartisan group of Governors.

4:53 p.m. D.C., time he says we all deserve clean drinking water and we can make that reality “with the American Jobs Plan.”

He isn’t wrong. Every one deserves clean drinking water.

This is personal note time. I’m not sure it’s clear, but if it’s not, let me just say, covering Biden’s tweets is both easier and harder than the other guys tweets. Easier because he’s not unhinged, harder because he’s way harder to mock, and my snark is suffering from it. The lack of it, is wearing me down.

So, in light of that, I present an idea I’m toying with…

I’m proposing a return to What Fresh Hell is This? Cause while we are in a better space than we would be in if the other one had won a second term, there is still stuff, that when I see it I auto think, what the actual fresh hell is this?

For example…

As we all expected, suspected, and accepted, this morning the Republican party voted, by voice, not on record, to oust Congresswoman Liz Cheney, the only woman in GOP leadership, from her number 3 leadership role. Her sin, according to them, was she wasn’t moving away from insurrection fast enough for them.

Now, it’s not surprising this happened, but still it’s another level of what fresh hell is this, from a party, many of us belonged.

Here are some examples of the current R parties Twitter thoughts.

Reminder: Matty has be credibly accused of paying a 17 year-old to have sex with him. But yeah, Lizzy is the problem…

A lesser known Congressman from Ohio said…

His next tweet after the above stupid in case people doubted his stupidity…

Speaking of Davidson…allegedly he said this…

Not to be out classed by Hey Hey, Boebert is fundraising off the ousting of Cheney…surprise?

And his hideousness has weighed in, yes, that’s right, the more elegant approach than tweets has basically tweeted that Cheney was a “bitter, horrible human being.” He goes on to say that he watched her “yesterday and realized how bad she is for the Republican party.”

Yesterday Cheney said:

Today she said:

Yeah, how dare her!!!!!

Well, there it is, an example of what I mean…when I say “what fresh hell is this?” I should note this will or should not be reserved only for Republican’s. I used them today as an example, as today they have once again shown us who they are, more importantly they have shown us, who they support as our future leaders.

Also I should note, that I would still cover Biden’s tweets, policy, and such, it would just not be an open thread.

White House daily press briefing is schedule to start at noon D.C., time.

President Biden’s remarks on the coronavirus and the vaccine are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. D.C., time.

This is an Open Thread.
