Coffee Talk with Tiff for Saturday’s Open Thread

It’s Saturday.

Today, is June 26th, 2021, we are rapidly approaching July 2021, if you can believe it? I can’t, but well, I don’t have kids in school, hence how come I remind everyone what day it is, with the date included.

Anyway, I’m now on my third cup of coffee…yay, you guys.

This is going to be a bit random, as if I need to explain that to you, but this little article of mine is to share with you how my brain works, or doesn’t, that’s in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

Anyhoo, the other day we learned that Governor of Florida Ron DeMoron, signed bills related to his states educational system. As The Hill explains, one of these bills asks the schools to survey the students, teachers, and staff, to “assess viewpoint diversity and intellectual freedom, and determine “the extent to which competing ideas and perspectives are presented,” and whether students and faculty “feel free to express beliefs and viewpoints on campus and in the classroom.””

The bill does not say what would happen if these survey’s determine those working or attending the school feel unable to express their beliefs or viewpoints freely. He did say budget cuts might be involved if it’s found that the schools are “indoctrinating,” it’s students.

Other bills he signed “included an expansion of civics education for K-12 schools, including instruction about the perils of communist and totalitarian governments.”

This leads me to the new scary term Fox Not News is tossing around at will and across hours of their coverage; Critical Race Theory or CRT.

Now, we aren’t going to get in the pluses and minuses of this teaching as I’m still trying to learn what CRT actually is without a media spin or personal POV, which is harder than you’d might expect, especially right now. But what seems to be the prevailing thought; currently it is not being taught at the k-12 levels. It is being taught to future or wannabe lawyers as it’s a legal theory.

Now, here’s my point, you can’t teach about the bad of tyrants without touching on CRT, at least in a small way.

You can’t discuss Hitler’s rise and fall, without understanding that at first, Hitler didn’t start nuts as fuck, he had support of the German people and some of those German’s were Jews, that he’d later target and murder. It’s important to understand that Hitler had charm at the start of his rise to power, otherwise he wouldn’t have managed to build up a loyal army of individuals willing to mass murder Jewish people for the good of Hitler and Germany First politics.

This leads us to our 4th-ish cup of coffee and our Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, who on Wednesday during a House hearing explained that no the military is not learning to be “woke”, it’s learning to prevent mini-Hitler’s from rising or white supremacy from taking deep roots throughout the military and our country.

*General Milley: Sure. First of all, on the issue of critical race theory, et cetera, I’ll obviously have to get much smarter on whatever the theory is, but I do think it’s important actually for those of us in uniform to be open-minded and be widely read. And the United States Military Academy is university and it is important that we train and we understand. And I want to understand white rage and I’m white, and I want to understand it. So what is it that cause thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the constitution of the United States of America? What caused that? I want to find that out. I want to maintain an open mind here, and I do want to analyze it. It’s important that we understand that because our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and guardians, they come from the American people. So it is important that the leaders now and in the future do understand it.
I’ve read Karl Marx. I’ve read Lenin. That doesn’t make me a communist. So what is wrong with understanding, having some situational understanding about the country for which we are here to defend? And I personally find it offensive that we are accusing the United States military, our general officers, our commissioned, non-commissioned office rs of being quote woke or something else because we’re studying some theories that are out there. That was started at Harvard Law School years ago. And it proposed that there were laws in the United States, antebellum laws prior to the Civil War that led to a power differential with African-Americans that were three quarters of a human being when this country was formed. And then we had a Civil War and Emancipation Proclamation to change it. And we brought it up to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It took another a hundred years to change that.
So look, I do want to know, and I respect your service. And you and I are both Green Berets, but I want to know, and it matters to our military and the discipline and cohesion of this military. And I thank you for the opportunity to make a comment on that.

His words triggered Fox News, oh, boy, Tucker “that Fucker” Carlson especially is upset by the term “white rage”, now, in fairness, I can see how that might be off putting, because we wouldn’t say “black rage” the same today, though it was a term used heavily in the 70’s–maybe it was used more in the 60’s–I didn’t Google.

But I digress.

First up, is Laura Ingraham, she suggested in her “outrage” over his “ridiculous response,” that we defund the military.

Not to be outshined by blondie, the stupid kind, not the signer…

Tucker “that Fucker” Carlson was so livid about General Milley’s response he called him an ass kisser, not a brave war veteran, and not only a “pig” but “stupid.”

Yesterday…

In the clip above he says that General Milley was attacking people based on skin color…

I found this fuller clip without the guest where he explains that “white rage” is not a thing. And it should be mandatory to complain that the top military guy is attacking white people.

He and his guest decide to lie about history…

*the article linked in the quote tweet was published May 2021.*

And this concludes today’s Coffee Talk with Tiff, late it may be, but here’s a preview for tomorrows, Coffee Talk with Tiff…

Twice Impeached 45 is holding a rally in Ohio today. I will not be covering it. But in fairness there will probably be clips of the Dumb Twice Impeached 45’s lie jamboree. And why do you ask will there be clips?

Because he is the front runner for the R nomination at this time, he also believes or maybe just acts like he believes for money, that he’s still President…

In the first clip he makes the standard “watch out next week I’m going to tell you all about what I’m going to do to Big Tech,” bullshit.

In the second and IMO the more dangerous one, just like he said to Hannity, he is still saying a week later that kids shouldn’t be vaccinated against the coronavirus. With the Delta variant on the rise. That is just fucking maddening.

Like learning about Hitler, will ignore Twice Impeached 45 and his cult 45’s at our own peril.

Have a great Saturday, y’all!!!!
