Coffee Talk With Tiff for Saturday’s Open Thread

It’s Saturday.

Today, is July 3rd, 2021, just a day before our country celebrates it’s Independence Day.

For this Saturday, President Biden has a public schedule. I know. I went oh, hell, dude, it’s Saturday…but anyhoo, it was bound to happen, that he’d have a working-ish weekend eventually.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in yesterday’s daily press briefing that; Saturday, he will travel to Traverse City, Michigan, with Governor Gretchen Whitmer as part of the administration’s nationwide America is Back Together Tour to celebrate our country’s progress against the virus. While there, he will visit a cherry farm, where he will highlight the benefits of the bipartisan Infrastructure Framework and what they will do to deliver to communities acro- — what it will do to deliver to communities across the country. After his visit to Traverse City, he will travel to Wilmington, Delaware, where he will remain overnight.

I had debated the idea of including his tweets, but Psaki said he doesn’t have a public schedule for Monday, so, I can recap the weekend tweets as I normally do, every Monday.

We move on to things that made me ugh, for the week, or just the last couple of days, sometimes, it’s just one day. *shrug*.

I’m on my second cup of Saturday coffee, found this beauty of a statement in the late hours of June 30th, 2021…

“It depends…” no, it doesn’t depend, whether or not the child regrets it later in life, is not at issue, at issue is an adult slept with a child.

I found the above tweet via law-Twitter-great follow, if you haven’t already…

Randomly we move on to my 3rd cup of coffee and a tweet I saw shared a few times in the Note and Owl…

Check out the ratio…

DumbDumb’s Twitter account.

I did find one out of the many I read that agreed with Josh’s hot take…

Halo made a good point here.

Even Christian’s tend to disagree on the “Bible” so, yeah, what version of the “Bible” get’s used to marry our Constitution and the Bible?

We move on to our 4th cup coffee, well, mine, not exactly “ours”…

In news that tried to bust the irony meter.

On July 1st, Jason “Scumbag won’t pay his damn child support,” Miller, soft launched his new social media website (it’s being reported, this might be an old site with a face-lift).

Fox News, not the first to report the site’s soft launch, quotes deadbeat dad as saying; We believe there needs to be a new social media platform that really defends free speech, and one that doesn’t de-platform for political beliefs,” he continued. “This is a challenge to social media monopolies.”

So, I went and visited GETTR which apparently does not equal “Get Her” but equals “Getting Together” but is really just a knock-off version of Twitter…

I’m not linking to their crap site. Nope.

I looked for Impeached Twice 45…

Not gonna do it…

I debated joining until Lenny talked me off that insane ledge reminding me, not to give the site more attention than I already have.

I did go back and revisit, with these words from Politico ringing in my head…

The site, called GETTR, advertised its mission statement as “fighting cancel culture, promoting common sense, defending free speech, challenging social media monopolies, and creating a true marketplace of ideas.”

Politico. 07/01/2021.

And found this…

Just not happening.

I titled the above screen snip as “LOL”, cause omg, LOL.

And that’s when I found this from Q-watcher Will Sommer…

Full-disclosure I’m not and haven’t Googled “pig poop balls,” meme…

It’s also being reported, by sources, I don’t want to look up, that Impeached Twice 45, has not at this time decided if he is joining GETTR, ever.

Also, let it be noted that apparently racist assholes, Freedumbs are offended by naked cartoon characters and cuss words…

I agree with this Twitter account…

With all the above in mind, yesterday I saw these law-Twitter tweets…

So, as many here are aware, Section 230, is what allows us, the News Blender to have a site, without it, we couldn’t have a comment section, or else we’d need 24 hour mod’s hanging out in the comment section reading every comment in real time.

Everyone always focuses on the big guys, the Twitter’s and Facebook’s, but Section 230 being removed would effect the whole of the internet the little guys like us, we’d be shut down, or at the very minimum no comment section, and what’s the point of blogging, if we can’t chat together?

Now, sure we could do the whole 24 hour pending review thingy, where all comments even silly shit like “Good Morning, Blenders,” comments would auto mod. But again, that’s not something users would like nor would site owners.

I understand the focus on the big dudes, imagine trying to mod a billion users (that’s the estimate of Facebook’s user base) or Millions of Tweets (that’s the the estimate of Twitter users) 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

But I do think more thought by those that support removing Section 230 should be given about our small volunteer type sites they enjoy. They’d all be gone, no way to afford the liability protection we’d need to operate.

In news we don’t really care about, but I’m going to share it anyway….

Impeached Twice 45 is holding a rally in Florida, I think it’s tonight, no, I will not be covering it, last rally he called the moon a plant. Earlier this week there was reporting that Governor of Florida Republican Ron *fingers crossed I get the nod from the big guy to run in 2024* DeMoron asked Asshole to cancel his rally in light of the Surfside building collapse that has left 24 dead and 124 unaccounted for. DeMoron denied the reports. Today, it’s being reported that…

Yeah, totally Presidential material seeking approval to miss the Former President But still Impeached Twice 45’s rally.

The numbers provided today were via Saturday morning’s local official update.

We end today’s coffee talk with Tiff, by me sharing a law-dad joke…

You’re welcome!!!!

Happy Saturday, Everyone.

This is an Open Thread.

Just a note about tomorrows Coffee Talk, it might be just for today, with it being the 4th of July tomorrow. I can’t say for sure at 8:32 a.m. D.C., time as I finish my idk 5th, 6th, cup of coffee. So as always, stay tuned!
