It’s Wednesday.

There are 4 days until Halloween!!!

For Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, President Biden has participated virtually in the annual East Asia Summit. After the virtual summit President Biden has received his daily brief.

The White House has published a readout of the virtual East Asia Summit:

President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. today virtually joined leaders of ASEAN member states and representatives from Australia, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), India, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, and Russia during the annual East Asia Summit (EAS), where they discussed regional and international challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the climate crisis.

President Biden reaffirmed the enduring U.S. commitment to the Indo-Pacific, and he outlined his vision for the region, which seeks a region that is open, connected, prosperous, resilient, and secure.

President Biden also announced that the United States will explore with partners the development of an Indo-Pacific economic framework that will define our shared objectives around trade facilitation, standards for the digital economy and technology, supply chain resiliency, decarbonization and clean energy, infrastructure, worker standards, and other areas of shared interest.

The President also reiterated the U.S. commitment to the international rules-based order and expressed concern over threats to that order. He made clear that the United States will continue to stand with allies and partners in support of democracy, human rights, rule of law, and freedom of the seas.

President Biden has tweeted 3 times so far for Wednesday; his 3rd tweet will be shared down thread.

On Monday, President Biden visited East End Elementary School in North Plainfield, New Jersey to highlight his Build Back Better Agenda. The above video is 55 seconds long. I will not be transcribing the video. He’s basically just talking with the kids and teachers inside the classroom.

The White House issued the following statement:

Three years ago, on a peaceful Shabbat morning, a lone gunman stormed into the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood and stole the lives of 11 souls in prayer. Eleven others managed to escape — some with serious physical injuries, others with indelible scars of grief.

The attack was the deadliest act of antisemitism in our nation’s history. It was an assault on members of the Tree of Life, New Light, and Dor Hadash congregations, the American Jewish community, and our country. And it was a reminder that hate never goes away, it only hides; and if we give hate oxygen, it can consume.

But the days, weeks, and months that followed also revealed the unyielding character of a community: The first responders who rushed into harm’s way. The teenagers who organized a Havdalah vigil for a neighborhood in need. The art teacher who painted hearts and Stars of David in the windows of a local coffee shop. The designer who formed an iconic image that defined a city and inspired a nation with three simple words: stronger than hate.

That day and those that followed remind all of us to embrace the better angels of our nature – and to turn pain into purpose. We must always stand up and speak out against antisemitism with clarity and conviction, and rally against the forces of hate in all its forms, because silence is complicity. We must recognize in others our shared humanity and strive to summon unexpected faith in unanticipated moments — in the hope that we might heal and rebuild.

That continues to be the work of my Administration — laying out our country’s first-ever comprehensive strategy to address domestic terrorism, signing legislation aimed at strengthening our efforts to counter unlawful acts of hate, taking executive actions to protect houses of worship, and pressing forward with executive and legislative action to reduce all forms of gun violence.

This Shabbat, in synagogues around the country, worshipers will sing the timeless words from the Book of Proverbs: Eitz Chayim Hee La’machazikim Bah. “It is a tree of life for those who hold fast to it.” As we mark three years since this heinous attack, we resolve to remember the lives lost and commit to protecting a future worthy of their memories. May the survivors and the families of the victims hold fast to the teachings of their faith and find comfort in the embrace of their community and their country.

Build Back Better Agenda Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal Tweets from New Jersey…

On Monday after President Biden visited the elementary school he traveled to Kearny, New Jersey, to visit the NJ Transit Meadowlands Maintenance Complex where he offered remarks to promote his Build Back Better Agenda.

President Biden: First, the infrastructure bill.  It’s about rebuilding the arteries of America. And the Portal Bridge project is showing why investments like this are so important. When the Portal Bridge was built, it was state of the art — and it really was, but 110 years ago. Today, it’s been called something different: a “chokepoint,” a “bottleneck,” an “Achilles heel” of the Northeast Corridor.

President Biden: Aging infrastructure like this is more than an inconvenience or a nuisance; it’s an impediment — impediment to America’s global competitiveness. We’re in a worldwide race.  Things have changed. Take a look. That’s why what’s happening right now is so important. Today, we’re moving forward on a new bridge that will be higher over the water so it won’t need to open and close. It’ll allow us to increase speed, safety, and efficiency, and capacity. *It’s going to make life a lot better for New Jersey’s commuters.  It’s also going to create nearly 8,000 construction jobs in this area alone — this area’s workers — 8,000 union jobs. (Applause.) Union.*

*this text is from the second video snip*

The below tweet is just worded differently than the quote from President Biden but is the same theme…

President Biden: My Build Back Better plan is going to cut childcare costs more than in half for low- and middle-income New Jersey residents. Under my plan, no middle-class family will spend more than 7 percent of their income on childcare. We’ll also extend historic middle-class tax cuts for parents by expanding the Child Care Tax Credit. Everybody talks about children.  And Josh has heard me say it: I view it as a tax cut for middle-class families — a tax cut.  We never have an argument when we talk about the wealthy.  This is a tax cut.  It changes the lives of the American people.  (Applause.)  Because many people here in New Jersey understand it means you get $300 a month for every child under the age six and $250 for a child between 6 and 17. That money is already a life-changer for so many working families.  It’s projected to cut child poverty in New Jersey by 36 percent.

WEDNESDAYS 3RD TWEET:

Not a direct quote but similar theme…

President Biden: We’re going to make sure high-speed Internet is affordable and available everywhere in America, including the nearly one in three New Jersey families that don’t have the Internet subscription.  How many times did you see people pulling up to McDonald’s, sitting outside during the pandemic so they could do their homework because they couldn’t get — get it off of their — their line?

Build Back Better Agenda Tweet from CNN town hall…

On Thursday, President Biden had a town hall hosted by CNN. His full remarks can be found here. Anderson Cooper was the town hall moderator.

Anderson Cooper: You talked about the environmental piece.  You said Senator Sinema is on board with that.  Certainly, Senator Manchin is not.  It gets to our next question. This is from Kobi Khong.  He’s originally from Anaheim, California. He’s a Sophomore Class President at Johns Hopkins University, a Democrat.  (Applause.) Kobi, what’s your question?

Audience Question: One of the largest issues that people have trouble comprehending the severity of is climate change.  Many legislators and politicians today are lenient, as they won’t have to live with the future effects.  Without the legislative support for the climate aspects of your budget proposal and the earth rapidly approaching the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 degrees limit, what other backup plans do you have to ensure a future for the next generations?

President Biden: Well, that’s — (applause).  Mr. President, you got it right.  The existential threat to humanity is climate change.  And when President Trump pulled out of the Paris Accord — which, when I was with the Obama administration, we helped negotiate — the agreement was that we could not — if we reached beyond 1.5 degrees Celsius increase in temperature, we’re gone.  Not a joke.  Not a joke.
