The news these days is often depressing at worst and frustrating at best. It’s easy to let it get us down. Never fear… The News Blender has you covered. Once a week we feature Something Good and, in return, all you have to do is tell us something good that has happened to you this week, something you are thankful for, a joke, a cute animal story, an inspiring tale of heroics, a Random Act of Kindness… SOMETHING good.

Today’s Something Good is a wartime wedding upgrade.

Royce and Frankie King were high school sweethearts who got married during WWII. Royce went home to Iowa to marry Frankie before he shipped out with the Air Force. With only a few days notice, Frankie didn’t have time to arrange for a wedding dress and there was no photographer to capture the memories of the day, according to USA Today.

Instead, Frankie walked down the aisle in a white dress she already had to her beloved Royce who wore his uniform.

They went on to have two children, 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Royce is now 98 and Frankie is 97. A hospice caretaker for the couple found out that Frankie didn’t have a proper wedding dress for her wedding and decided to make it happen, on their anniversary 77 years later.

There was a photo shoot to capture Royce’s First Look at his bride and a music therapist played music from the 40s for the celebration. Their daughter Sue said Royce couldn’t stop smiling when he saw his bride.

A wedding dress, 77 years later is something good. Now it’s your turn… Tell me something good!
