Biden Bits: Just to Score a Few Political Points…

It’s Thursday.

Yeah still haven’t found a better countdown clock…

For Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, President Biden has received his daily brief. This afternoon President Biden will travel to Walter Reed National Medical Center. From there he will visit the National Institutes of Health. He will deliver remarks on his Admin’s plan to continue the fight against the coronavirus as we enter the winter months and face the Omicron variant. This evening the First Family and the Second Family will attend the National Christmas Tree Lighting. President Biden and the Secretary of the Interior will deliver remarks.

The White House published the following fact-sheet on the Winter COVID-19 plan.

Today, President Biden will announce new actions to combat COVID-19 as the United States heads into the winter months and with the emergence of a new variant, Omicron.

The United States has come far in its fight against the virus and is more prepared than ever to deal with the challenges of COVID-19. We have the public health tools we need to continue to fight this virus without shutting down our schools and businesses. As we head into winter, today, the President will announce actions to provide additional protection to Americans and fight the Omicron and Delta variants, while keeping our economy growing.

This plan includes:

White House.gov. 12/02/2021.
  1. Boosters for All Adults
  2. Vaccinations to Protect Our Kids and Keep Our Schools Open
  3. Expanding Free At-Home Testing for Americans
  4. Stronger Public Health Protocols for Safe International Travel
  5. Protections in Workplaces to Keep Our Economy Open
  6. Rapid Response Teams to Help Battle Rising Cases
  7. Supplying Treatment Pills to Help Prevent Hospitalizations and Death
  8. Continued Commitment to Global Vaccination Efforts
  9. Steps to Ensure We Are Prepared for All Scenarios

Last week, after the World Health Organization (WHO) named the Omicron variant as a Variant of Concern, the President took immediate steps to restrict travel from the most impacted countries in order to give the U.S. time to learn more about the variant and prepare. We have more tools today to fight the Omicron variant than we have had to fight previous variants, including Delta. Nearly 60 percent of Americans are fully vaccinated, booster shots are authorized for all adults, and a vaccine is authorized for kids aged 5 and older. The U.S. is leading the world in vaccinating children, and millions of Americans have already gotten their boosters. And, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is reviewing additional antiviral treatments for when people do get sick.

Today’s actions will ensure we are using these tools as effectively as possible to protect the American people against this variant and to continue to battle the Delta variant during the winter months when viruses tend to thrive. These actions will help keep our economy growing and keep Americans safe from severe COVID-19.

President Biden has tweeted 2 times so far for Thursday…

His full statement:

This morning, we received additional evidence of the strength of America’s historic economic recovery and Americans getting back to work. New unemployment claims are now at a level not seen since March 7, 2020 and last week’s claims were revised down to their lowest level since 1969. In addition, the four-week average of unemployment claims fell to their lowest level since the pandemic began – just 225,500. Initial unemployment claims are now down more than 70 percent since I became President, and total claims filed each week are now down by around 16 million over that same period.

America’s jobs recovery is strong, and our COVID strategy is allowing millions of workers to find and keep jobs. There is still more work to do build our economy back better, including addressing recent increases in prices. In addition to recent steps I have taken to address supply chain bottle necks and reduce the price of gas at the pump, the historic Build Back Better Act will cut costs that American families have struggled with for years. Today’s data underscore the historic progress we are making and the importance of building on that progress in the weeks ahead.

When Biden Bits was posted for Wednesday, President Biden had tweeted 3 times. He added 8 tweets and 1 retweet giving him a Wednesday Tweeting Total of 11 tweets and 1 retweet.

The YouTube is 21 minutes and 16 seconds long. His full remarks can be found here.

President Biden: One Republican senator even said that rising prices were, quote, “a gold mine,” end of quote, for Republicans politically.  Imagine rooting for higher costs for American families just to score a few political points.

Yahoo news reported yesterday that Republican Senator Rick Scott (FL) told the Wall Street Journal in early November that; We’re going to continue to have inflation and then interest rates will go up. This is a gold mine for us.

I can’t verify the quoted quote as I cancelled my Journal sub cause it was 40 dollars a month…

The tweet is half remarks quote to tweet text…

President Biden: Over the last month, the number of containers left sitting on docks blocking movement to those stores is over — was for over eight days.  Now it’s down — it’s down by 40 percent, which means they’re heading to shelves in stores more quickly.

The YouTube is 30 minutes and 56 seconds long. President Biden begins speaking at the 12 minute and 59 second mark. His full remarks can be found here.

President Biden: Today, we once more raise a two-story-tall red ribbon on the North Portico of the White House to remember how far we’ve come, the work we have left to finish, and so we never forget the price — the price that’s paid all along the way.

The YouTube is 28 minutes and 18 seconds long. President Biden begins his remarks at the 10 minute and 15 second mark. His full remarks can be found here.

President Biden: You know, when we light this menorah in the White House, when Jewish families place menorahs in their windows, we are proclaiming liberty.  We’re exercising the freedom that the Maccabees sought to simply practice their faith.  And we’re showing that there is still light, that even the most fragile flame can be sustained in a tradition and nourish the soul of a people. That little bit of light — that little bit of light, wherever it is found, can dispel the darkness and illuminate a path forward.  And whether it’s in the Temple in Jerusalem or a temple of our democracy, nothing broken or profaned is beyond repair.  Nothing.

The above video is taken from remarks he gave on Tuesday. The YouTube 34 minutes and 15 seconds long.

President Biden: Frankly, I’m surprised that not a single Republican in Congress has joined us in supporting it.  It can’t be because it would add to inflation.  Seventeen Nobel laureates — seventeen — three weeks ago, spontaneously sent me a letter saying that it would have the opposite effect; it would actually reduce long-term inflationary pressures. It can’t be because it would add to the deficit, because it reduces the deficit over the long term. It can’t be because it’s fiscally responsible, because it’s fully paid for.  It’s fully paid for.  (Applause.)  No one — no one earning less than $400,000 a year will pay a single penny more in federal taxes. Fifty-five percent — and I come from the corporate state of America, Delaware.  More corporations are incorporated in Delaware than every other nation and every other — excuse me — state in the nation.  And guess what?  Fifty-five percent of the Fortune 500 companies — the largest ones — paid zero in income taxes last year after making $40 billion in profits. I’m a capitalist.  If you can make a million or a billion dollars, have at it.  Just pay your fair share.  (Applause.)  That’s all I’m asking.

The daily brief was early today. I’m sorry guys…
