TNB Night Owl–Christmas Movie(s) Review…

When this posts it will officially be Christmas Eve, currently it’s just Christmas Eve-Eve…

I’m not sure when this will post…

When this post posts it will officially be the Day After Christmas–right now it’s CHRISTMAS DAY!

If you feel a little déjà vu that’s okay this originally posted for a minute on Friday morning, but we pulled it in order to drop it now…

As I mentioned last weekend a Discord group I have joined has been watching Christmas movies in the afternoon my time; evening for most everyone else in the group…

Anyhoo, this past Sunday we watched…

The live action version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas stars Jim Carrey as the Grinch. It was released in 2000–and you can rent it for $3.99 or buy it for $14.99 on YouTube…

Now, with that intro out of the way onto my thoughts on the movie. It’s not very good. I’m sorry not sorry but the original…

While short, is just a much better time for all.

Seriously, I don’t remember the live action movie; when I saw it in theaters all those years ago, being as bad as it was for me this past Sunday…

And while it would be easy to say it’s all Jim Carrey’s fault…

I just don’t think that’s the case, I think it try’s too hard to be edgy while still appealing to a mass audience who as kids loved the original cartoon and couldn’t wait to share this live action movie with their kids.

The problem is; it just doesn’t capture the same Christmas cheer feels that the original managed.

Maybe it’s too long?

Maybe it’s cause it misses the deep voiced narration and Grinch’s voice of Boris Karloff?

I thought of another maybe; Maybe the source material was just not deep enough to translate into a live action movie?

Maybe it’s cause it doesn’t have any truly memorable music?

Anyhoo, regardless of the reasons; I give the Jim Carrey version; 2 tiff’s; because while I thought it was bad, I’ve seen worse movies…

I’m gonna leave the GIF–simply as a reminder that sometimes mistakes are made; but we recover–move forward…
