The news these days is often depressing at worst and frustrating at best. It’s easy to let it get us down. Never fear… The News Blender has you covered. Once a week we feature Something Good and, in return, all you have to do is tell us something good that has happened to you this week, something you are thankful for, a joke, a cute animal story, an inspiring tale of heroics, a Random Act of Kindness… SOMETHING good.

Today’s something good is a real-life Lassie.

Last week, on the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge on the border between Vermont and New Hampshire, a one-year-old Shiloh Shepard named Tinsley saved her human’s life.

The pup was traveling with her human and his friend when their truck went through the guardrail and down a steep embankment, according to CNN. The two men were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over and were injured.

The New Hampshire State Police were called to the scene of a dog wandering on the bridge and when they arrived, they tried to lure her off the bridge for her own safety. But she was skittish and kept running off, stopping a distance from them but never running away. Almost as if she was trying to lead them somewhere.

When Tinsley stopped at the top of an embankment and looked down, Trooper Tom Sandberg and the other officers who responded noticed that section of the guardrail was damaged and there was a mangled pickup truck at the bottom of the embankment.

Cam Laundry, Tinsley’s owner, and his passenger, were hypothermic by the time aid arrived and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

New Hampshire State Police officer Lt. Dan Baldassarre said, “This was almost like a real-life Lassie situation. It’s really quite remarkable.” He continued, “This dog definitely saved their lives. I don’t think they would have survived the night given the temperatures.”

Cam says of his “co-pilot” Tinsley, “She’s my guardian angel. It’s a miracle that she had that kind of intelligence to do what she did.”

He rewarded Tinsley’s heroism with a venison burger and back scratches.

Dogs really are too good for us but thank God for them!

Now it’s your turn… Tell me something good!
