This is an Open Thread
Hey y’all TNB peeps! It is I, your friendly neighborhood doc here to fill in space while the real star of the show if off doing adulting things. I will strive to keep you entertained and provide our afternoon open thread so we can get on with the business of getting on, but short of that don’t count on too much else. 😂
To start us out before we get to the meat of the show, I thought I’d share a few pictures of our rehab progress, because yes, we are still going strong. Mainly, I’m trying to keep the momentum going while I wait on the windows. We are presently, as of today, on week 15 of our 10-14 weeks delivery date. Sigh.
Here is what it looked like to begin:
Bwahaha, I just realized I have TNB opened on my computer there in the foreground. Snort. Okay, late 80’s, early 90s blush colored carpet (that replaced early 70s GREEN shag carpet), with heavy lined linen drapes to match, because of course. Paneled walls and acoustic ceiling tiles from the 70s.
Here we are in initial tear out:
Here is Fen photobombing:
Here’s the hubs with the thought bubble of ‘oh shit, what have we gotten into now’ in the kitchen.
And through the magic of fast forward after much drywall, texturing, floor sanding and re-staining and finishing … Ta da!
These are just the front rooms, all this happened throughout the house, but these show the most effect of Dramatic Change. Lol. Underneath the carpet the floor turned out to be a red oak everywhere except the kitchen, which is a pine. That is why the stain looks different in the last picture.
Next up for inside: trim – window and door casings, base, crown – and painting, but neither of those can be done before the *%$%ing windows are delivered and installed. Hopefully all goes well enough there and we don’t find too much damage when the old windows are pulled.
Meanwhile, we’ll work on the kitchen countertops. The electrician has pretty much done all he needs to do and the plumber is about halfway done, have to rework some pipes.
Annnd that is it for this part of my Remodeling Adventures. Hopefully, the next time the boss needs to be away I’ll have more to update.
Now, onward towards today’s Biden Bits.
Wednesday’s Biden Bits left off with Biden tweeting only once before post time. He finished out with 3 more tweets:
According to today’s schedule, Biden is off to Ohio to “deliver remarks on how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law delivers for the American people …”

STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
South Lawn
9:17 A.M. EDTÂ Â ÂQÂ Â Â Mr. President, how high is the threat of a Russian invasion right now?Â
Â
THE PRESIDENT: It’s very high.
Â
QÂ Â Â Why?
Â
THE PRESIDENT: It’s very — because they have not — they have not moved any of their troops out. They’ve moved more troops in, number one. Number two, we have reason to believe that they are engaged in a false-flag operation to have an excuse to go in. Every indication we have is they’re prepared to go into Ukraine, attack Ukraine — number one.Â
Â
Number two, I’ve been waiting for a response from Putin for my letter that — my response to him. It’s come to that Moscow embassy. They’re faxing it here. Not faxing it, they’re sending it here. I have not read it yet. I cannot comment on it.
Â
QÂ Â Â Have you been briefed on it in any way?
Â
THE PRESIDENT: No- —
Â
Q   Do you think he’s going to go through with this, sir? Is your sense that this is going to happen now?
Â
THE PRESIDENT:  Yes. Not —
Â
QÂ Â Â When?
Â
THE PRESIDENT: I — my sense is this will happen within the next several days.Â
Â
Thank you.
Â
QÂ Â Â How many days are we talking?
Â
QÂ Â Â Is there any diplomatic path still available, Mr. President?Â
Â
THE PRESIDENT: Yes, there is. There’s a clear diplomatic path. That’s why I asked Senator — Senator — (laughs) — Secretary Blinken to go to the United Nations and make his statement today. He’ll lay out what that path is. I’ve laid out a path to Putin as well on, I think, Sunday. And so, there is a path. There is a way through this, but by diplomacy.
Â
QÂ Â Â Will you speak to Putin again?Â
Â
QÂ Â Â Are you going to call Putin?
Â
THE PRESIDENT: I’m not calling Putin. I have no plans to call Putin right now. Thank you.

That is probably all for today’s tweets while he’s in Ohio and traveling back. We’ll pick up where we left off here and add them to Friday’s afternoon thread if he decides to get chatty after returning to the White House.
Meanwhile, Tiff left a couple heads up tweets of goings on today, saying Biden will probably be somewhat focused in on this even though he is not participating.
Can maybe poke around on either one their timelines, see if anything has happened.
