It’s Thursday…

There is a slight change of rain on Tuesday after 80 degree weather in February…

When Biden Bits was posted for Wednesday, President Biden had tweeted 3 times. He added 5 more tweets giving him a Wednesday Tweeting Total of 8 tweets and 0 retweets.

The YouTube is 21 minutes and 5 seconds long. His plus their-ish full remarks can be found here.

Yesterday’s tweets are not really similar in nature to his remarks…

On December 8th, 2021, the White House published a fact-sheet; President Biden Signs Executive Order Catalyzing America’s Clean Energy Economy Through Federal Sustainability

Here are the six times the year 2035 are mentioned:

The President’s executive order directs the federal government to use its scale and procurement power to achieve five ambitious goals:

  • 100 percent carbon pollution-free electricity (CFE) by 2030, at least half of which will be locally supplied clean energy to meet 24/7 demand;
  • 100 percent zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) acquisitions by 2035, including 100 percent zero-emission light-duty vehicle acquisitions by 2027;
  • Net-zero emissions from federal procurement no later than 2050, including a Buy Clean policy to promote use of construction materials with lower embodied emissions;
  • A net-zero emissions building portfolio by 2045, including a 50 percent emissions reduction by 2032; and
  • Net-zero emissions from overall federal operations by 2050, including a 65 percent emissions reduction by 2030.

Today’s executive action is a part of the President’s broader commitment to increasing investments in America’s manufacturing industries and workers to build back our country better.  By transforming how the federal government builds, buys, and manages its assets and operations, the federal government will support the growth of America’s clean energy and clean technology industries, while accelerating America’s progress toward achieving a carbon pollution-free electricity sector by 2035.

  • Achieve 100 percent carbon pollution-free electricity use by 2030, including 50 percent on a 24/7 basis. The federal government will work with utilities, developers, technology firms, financiers and others to purchase electricity produced from resources that generate no carbon emissions, including solar and wind, for all its operations by 2030. Half of the federal government’s 100 percent carbon pollution-free annual electricity demand will be procured on a 24/7 basis, meaning that the federal government’s real-time demand for electricity will be met with clean energy every hour, every day, and produced within the same regional grid where the electricity is consumed. With the scope and scale of this electricity demand, the federal government expects it will catalyze the development of at least 10 gigawatts of new American clean electricity production by 2030, spurring the creation of new union jobs and moving the country closer to achieving a carbon pollution-free electricity sector by 2035.
  • Transition to 100 percent acquisition of zero-emission vehicles by 2035 for the federal vehicle fleet, including 100 percent light duty vehicle acquisition by 2027. The federal government will work with American vehicle, battery, and charging equipment manufacturers and installers to transform its fleet into the largest zero-emission vehicle fleet in the Nation, reaching 100 percent zero-emission vehicle acquisitions by 2035. This will accelerate the advancement of America’s industrial capacity to supply zero-emission vehicles and electric vehicle batteries and create and sustain good union jobs in manufacturing, engineering, and skilled-trades.

100 Percent ZEV Acquisitions by 2035, including 100 percent Light-Duty ZEV Acquisitions by 2027

  • In 2021, the Department of the Interior (DOI)began transitioning its fleet ofU.S. Park Police lightweight motorcycles and dirt bikes to 100 percent ZEVs at its Washington, D.C., New York City, and San Francisco locations, with plans to reach a 100 ZEV fleet by 2025.

The White House published a readout of the meeting…

This afternoon, the President hosted 10 electric utility executives at the White House for a discussion about his Build Back Better (BBB) agenda to modernize America’s energy system and meet the moment on climate.  These electric utilities – that collectively employ more than a hundred thousand Americans in communities across the country and provide power to more than 50 million homes and businesses every day – offered their overwhelming support for the climate and clean energy investments in BBB.

The President thanked these leaders for their support and had a detailed conversation with them about their shared conviction that Build Back Better would support good jobs, lower energy bills for American families, make our electric grid more reliable in the face of extreme weather, enhance U.S. competitiveness, boost economic growth, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The CEOs in attendance spoke about how Build Back Better would make our country more globally competitive by investing in energy innovation, make our electric grid more reliable by investing in transmission, and support the growing number of electric vehicles Americans are buying. They also expressed that, while they may not agree with every aspect of the President’s agenda, they firmly support investments in climate and clean energy.

The climate and clean energy provisions in Build Back Better are a comprehensive set of investments to get America on track to reach the President’s goal of 100% clean electricity by 2035, and he appreciates the partnership of these top electric utility CEOs in that effort.

On January 26th, 2022, unofficially reports surfaced that Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer intended to retire at the end of the courts term; end of June–early July.

On January 27th, 2022, Justice Breyer made it official that yes, he will retire at the end of this courts term; when his replacement has been confirmed by the tied Senate.

Much ado has been made that President Biden as Presidential Candidate-Biden made the promise if a vacancy needed filled he planned to fill it with a qualified black woman.

As many are aware, Republican Senator from Texas Ted “Cancun is lovely in winter,” Cruz said the promise was offensive and insulting…

And it appears he can’t maths either, because the asshole says; black woman are what?, six percent of the U.S. population? He’s saying to ninety-four percent of American’s ‘I don’t give a damn about you.’ You are ineligible…

He says a bit more, and try’s to say if President Biden had just said a qualified person and the person happened to be a woman of color, that would be okay…

But that line about how black women make up so little of our U.S., population I’ve seen repeated dozens and dozens of times…

I looked for the text my husband who can do maths sent me when I mentioned how dumb the argument was that because black women make up so little of our population that somehow =’s they don’t deserve a seat at the highest table of them all.

But, I did find this…

Biden Bits comment section. 02/10/2022.

Also, the other glaring thing, is when a Supreme Court nominee is picked, the whole of the U.S. population is not under consideration. Like I’m not being vetted for the post anymore than Cancun Cruz is, which I think is his real issue, flat out jealousy…

Like he usually does after getting hated on by Twitter, the man tweeted out his pick for the vacancy…

For those like me, who only have a brief passing relationship with newer musical artists; Billie Eilish and Finneas are brother and sister singers/song writers.

I have to say that I’m more a fan of Finneas, the songwriter and producer.

Google tells me this was one of Eilish’s big hits…

I didn’t google this one…

I searched YouTube last night and found it…

I’ve added it to my play list…

For Thursday, February 10th, 2022, President Biden has received his daily brief. This afternoon President Biden and HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra will offer remarks in Brandy Station, Virginia, to highlight the admin’s work on lowering health care costs for American Families. After his trip to Virginia, the President and Vice President will meet with Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats to discuss the among Supreme Court Justice nominee.

President Biden has tweeted 4 times so far for Thursday…

The video snip is 39 seconds long. It was filmed on February 8th, 2022, when President Biden welcomed Tritum EV Chargers from Australia to the United States. Tritum announced their intent to build EV chargers in Tennessee.

President Biden: You’re beginning to change the world, for real.

Jane Hunter CEO: Yes, it’s a super exciting area to be in.

From his remarks:

President Biden: When we wrote the — and passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we included $7.5 billion for electric vehicle chargers, like the one Jane brought along today.  It’s a little thing.  You can see.

President Biden: Here’s the — here’s the key point. Announcements like this don’t happen by accident.  They require a vision and a commitment to build a future that’s made in America.

President Biden: Today’s announcement is part of the drumbeat of jobs resurgence like anything — more than anything we’ve seen before.

President Biden: The bottom line is the United States is in a position to outcompete the world once again.  And I look forward to working with governors — Republican and Democrat — to keep that drumbeat going.

The YouTube of the announcement is 18 minutes and 5 seconds long. His full remarks can be found here.

There is this posted to the White House this morning; PRICES WEEK FACT SHEET: The Biden-Harris Plan to Boost the Capacity of the Economy and Lower Costs for Working Families

The Administration this week is highlighting its comprehensive strategy to boost the capacity of the economy and lower costs for working families – from addressing supply chain bottlenecks, to making our economy more competitive, and pushing for legislation to ease everyday costs and make more in America. The President will speak to that this afternoon in Virginia, where he’ll discuss how we can lower the price of prescription drugs for working Americans.

Thanks in part to President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, the U.S. is in the midst of a historic economic recovery. In 2021, we saw the strongest monthly job growth ever recorded, the largest decline in unemployment ever recorded, the strongest economic growth in four decades, and an estimated nearly 40 percent decline in child poverty. Despite this progress, the U.S., along with much of the world, is grappling with elevated price increases brought on by the pandemic. These price increases hit families’ budgets, and create anxiety about the future. While experts expect inflation to moderate in the months ahead, President Biden is taking action now.

President Biden’s plan starts with respecting the Federal Reserve’s independence to keep elevated price increases from becoming entrenched. The Federal Reserve provided extraordinary support during the crisis. Given the strength of our recovery, and the pace of recent price increases, it is appropriate for them to recalibrate that support.

Beyond the Fed, the President believes that the most important thing he and Congress can do is build a more productive economy – with greater capacity to deliver goods and services to the American people. He does not agree with those who believe that the only solution is to make working families that are the backbone of our country poorer. Instead, the President is focused on building a growing economy, where folks have more choices, where more small businesses can compete, and where more goods get to market faster and cheaper. That means expanding the supply-side of the economy, over the short-, medium-, and long-term. Specifically, the Biden-Harris Administration is:

Fixing our supply chains and infrastructure, and making more in the United States.
The Administration is restoring American manufacturing and rebuilding American infrastructure, so we can make more here at home and move goods more efficiently and reliably through the economy. In February, the President issued an Executive Order to strengthen our supply chains, and in June established the Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force to bring a whole-of-government approach to addressing the immediate disruptions linked to the global pandemic. The President Biden’s historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will provide the funding needed to close vulnerabilities and improve efficiency at our ports, roads, waterways, and railroads.  The Administration is focused on addressing challenges and boosting capacity in three key sectors: transportation, semiconductors, and agriculture.

White House.gov. 02/10/2022.
  • In the transportation sector, in 2021 the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach—which process 40 percent of the nation’s containerized imports—broke their 2018 record for annual containerized imports by 13 percent. After working with the Biden-Harris Administration, they also reduced the number of containers sitting on the docks for 9 days or more by 60 percent. Thanks in part to the Administration’s efforts, American retailers’ shelves were well stocked for the record-breaking holiday season and 97 to 99 percent of consumers received their packages on time or with minimal delays. The Administration’s Ports Action Plan and a Trucking Action Plan are helping American port operators move a record amount of goods from ships to shelves as quickly as possible and connect more Americans to good jobs in the trucking industry. And by investing in our longer-term infrastructure needs, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will help make our transportation system more effective and make it easier and cheaper for businesses to move goods to market.

  • In the semiconductor sector, the Administration is working to expand U.S. chip manufacturing capacity, bring back American manufacturing jobs, address the chip shortage, and ensure we are not exposed to these disruptions again. Auto inflation – caused in part by the global semiconductor shortage – has caused around a third of the core inflation we’ve seen in the last year. But the Administration is making important progress. In just the last few weeks, Intel and GM announced they are building new chip and EV manufacturing plants right here in the United States.  To accelerate this progress, the President is urging Congress to pass legislation to strengthen U.S. research and development and manufacturing for critical supply chains, including semiconductors.

  • In the agriculture and meat processing sector, the Administration is providing financing to expand independent food processing capacity and support workers; strengthening rules that protect farmers, ranchers, and consumers; and expanding access to affordable, high-quality food for those in need, including in schools.

Fighting to lower kitchen table costs.
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, too many working families felt the squeeze of an ever-increasing cost of living. President Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda is the most significant effort to bring down costs and strengthen the middle class in generations. In addition to major investments in children and care, climate, and health, the framework includes targeted investments that will help lower the costs families pay right away. For example, Build Back Better will lower the cost of health care, child care, and prescription drugs and provide access to free preschool for all three and four year-olds. These investments are paid for, and will increase our economy’s capacity over time by getting more people working and lowering costs families struggle with. President Biden is focused on working with Congress to enact these proposals as quickly as possible.

Protecting consumers and promoting competition.
The decades-long trend of corporate consolidation in many sectors of our economy has left consumers, innovators, and our economy worse off. Lack of competition drives up prices for consumers, with families paying higher prices for prescription drugs, hearing aids, internet service, and more.  President Biden is focused on promoting competition to make our economy more productive, boost growth and innovation, and generate lower prices and more options for consumers. In July, the President signed a historic Executive Order establishing a whole-of-government effort to boost competition in the American economy. The Order includes 72 initiatives by more than a dozen federal agencies to promptly tackle some of the most pressing competition problems across our economy. For example, in October the Food and Drug Administration released a new proposed rule that would make it possible for hearing aids to be sold over the counter without a prescription, which is expected to save people hundreds of dollars.

White House.gov. 02/10/2022.

This morning prior to the above fact-sheet being released we found out that…

President Biden released the following statement:

My two top economic priorities have been to create a growing economy with more good-paying jobs, and to lower the prices Americans have faced from the global problem of inflation related to the pandemic. We have seen historic success on the first priority, with the greatest year of job growth in history, Americans finding better jobs, better wages, and better benefits, along with the fastest economic growth in decades. On higher prices, we have been using every tool at our disposal, and while today is a reminder that Americans’ budgets are being stretched in ways that create real stress at the kitchen table, there are also signs that we will make it through this challenge.

While today’s report is elevated, forecasters continue to project inflation easing substantially by the end of 2022. And fortunately we saw positive real wage growth last month, and moderation in auto prices, which have made up about a quarter of headline inflation over the last year. We separately saw good news with new unemployment claims continuing to decline. That’s a sign of the real progress we’ve made in getting Americans back to work over the last year.

My administration will continue to be all hands on deck to win this fight. We will continue to rebuild our infrastructure and manufacturing, so we can make more in America and strengthen our supply chains here at home. We will continue to fight to lower costs in areas that have held back families and working people for decades, from prescription drugs to child care and elder care to their energy costs. And we will continue to promote more competition to make our markets more competitive and give consumers more choices.

Coffee fueled opinion:

Over the next few days and weeks you’ll see stuff like this…

Or this…

Rando Twitter users will be like…

Or this…

The point I’m trying to long way around get to; inflation is real. it’s a problem. All the hair on fire pointing fingers at it’s his or her or their fault. Doesn’t solve the problem.

Truth is; it’s complicated and what consumers need reminded of often…

Part of the inflation is our fault. Not because of who we elected, but because of what we are unwilling to do without…

Not all of us; many of us reading this are well aware to go off-brand if our favorite brand prices itself out of our tax brackets.

But as with most things, sadly enough, we are in the minority…

End coffee fueled opinion…

I would like it noted on the record that for the second time in just a matter of days…

The daily press briefing…

There is not one listed on the scheduled. There isn’t a feed for one either so far…

So…

President Biden’s remarks are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. D.C., time. It’s already started…
