Biden Bits: I’m Doing My Part…

It’s Thursday.

When Biden Bits was posted for Wednesday, President Biden tweeted 1 time. He added 7 tweets giving him a Wednesday Tweeting Total of 8 tweets and 0 retweets.

On Tuesday, he offered remarks regarding the FDA approval of the coronavirus vaccine for children 6 months old to 17 years of age. The YouTube is 10 minutes and 11 seconds. His full remarks can be found here.

The video snip is 33 seconds long.

President Biden: (2:38) And a historic — this is a very historic milestone, a monumental step forward.  The United States is now the first country in the world to offer safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines for children as young as six months old.  In the first time in our fight against this pandemic, nearly every American can now have access to lifesaving vaccines.  And we’re ready. My administration, with the help of the CDC, has been planning and preparing this moment — for this moment for a long time.  Since I took office, we’ve been committed to making sure every parent has the opportunity to protect their children from COVID-19.  We’ve secured enough doses and we’re launching a comprehensive effort with states, local health departments, pediatricians, family doctors, pharmacies, rural health clinics, community health centers, and other trusted messengers and partners to get the word out to get — help to get shots in arms.

On March 31st, the White House announced:

Historic Release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as a Bridge Through the Crisis

After consultation with allies and partners, the President will announce the largest release of oil reserves in history, putting one million additional barrels on the market per day on average – every day – for the next six months.  The scale of this release is unprecedented: the world has never had a release of oil reserves at this 1 million per day rate for this length of time. This record release will provide a historic amount of supply to serve as bridge until the end of the year when domestic production ramps up.

The Department of Energy will use the revenue from the release to restock the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in future years. This will provide a signal of future demand and help encourage domestic production today, and will ensure the continued readiness of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to respond to future emergencies.

President Biden is coordinating this action with allies and partners around the world, and other countries are expected to join in this action, bringing the total release to well over an average 1 million barrels per day.

During his AFL-CIO Convention speech, President Biden explained that he was; working closely with our European partners to get 20 million tons of grains locked in Ukraine out onto the market to help bring down food prices. Folks, look, what Putin’s war has done is not only tried to wipe out the culture of the Ukrainians, decimate people, and commit innumerable war crimes, but is also — he’s also prevented the grain — thousands of tons of grain that are locked up in those silos, ready to be exported, but they can’t get out through the Black Sea because they’ll get blown out of the water.  So we’re working on a plan to get it out through other countries by rail. But guess what?  Ukraine has a system like Russia has — a rail gauge that is different than the gauge of the rest of the tracks in Europe.  So we’re going to build silos — temporary silos — in the borders of Ukraine, including in Poland, so we can transfer it from those cars into those silos, into cars in Europe, and get it out to the ocean, and get it across the world.  (Applause.)  But it’s taking time.

The YouTube is 13 minutes and 7 seconds long. His full remarks can be found here.

For today’s “remark to tweet text” we have a mixed bag of similar, yet, different…

“$2 dollars” appears twice in his remarks.

President Biden: (8:00) Just look at the facts: Since the start of the war in Ukraine this year, gas prices have risen by almost $2.00 a gallon in the United States, and sometimes more, around the world.

President Biden: (10:35) Look, I get the easy politics of the attack.  I get that.  But the simple truth is gas prices are up almost $2.00 a gallon because of Vladimir Putin’s ruthless attack on Ukraine, and we wouldn’t let him get away with it.  And we’re doing everything we can to reduce this pain at the pump now.

The announcement of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve release is posted above.

From the fact-sheet; Biden Administration Responds to Putin’s Price Hike by Awarding First Barrels from Historic Strategic Petroleum Reserve Release & Deploying Affordable Clean Energy:

Historic Collective Release of Oil from the International Energy Agency. After around the clock diplomacy by the President and allies and partners, the International Energy Agency announced an unprecedented collective release with member countries outside the United States releasing an additional 60 million barrels. Together with the United States’ commitment, this will add a combined global amount of 240 million barrels to the market. It is the largest release from other IEA countries in history, and will support American consumers and the global economy.

From the same fact-sheet…

Expanding Americans’ Access to Affordable Fuel Options This Summer. President Biden announced that the EPA Administrator is planning to issue an emergency waiver allowing E15 gasoline—gasoline that uses a 15 percent ethanol blend—to be sold this summer. An emergency waiver can help increase fuel supplies, give consumers more choice to get lower prices, and provide savings to many families. At current prices, E15 can save a family 10 cents per gallon of gas on average, and many stores sell E15 at an even greater discount – adding up to real savings for working families. Allowing higher levels of blending will also reduce our dependency on foreign fuels as we rely more heavily on home-grown biofuels.

ABC News reported on June 15th, 2022, President Biden sent a letter to “Marathon Petroleum Corp; Valero Energy Corp; ExxonMobil; Phillips 66; Chevron; BP and Shell,” blasting them for record profit during the Russia war on Ukraine. They provided a copy of the letter which is not available via White House.gov.

President Biden: (0:09) First, today I’m calling on Congress to suspend the federal gas tax for the next 90 days, through the busy summer season — busy travel season.

President Biden: (7:07) Today, I’m calling for a federal gas tax holiday, state gas tax holiday for [or] the equivalent relief to consumers; oil companies to use their profits to increase refining capacity rather than buy back their own stock; gas stations to pass along the decree — excuse me, not the decree, but the decrease in oil prices to lower prices at the pump.

President Biden: (2:41) Now, I fully understand that a gas tax holiday alone is not going to fix the problem, but it will provide families some immediate relief — just a little bit of breathing room — as we continue working to bring down prices for the long haul.

President Biden has tweeted…

He has tweeted 2 times so far for Thursday…

The YouTube is 13 minutes and 1 second long. The full remarks have not been posted at this time.

This morning, having thought based on this statement in his remarks; Here’s the truth: Just this month, America produced 12 million barrels of oil per day.  That’s the highest — that’s higher than average under my predecessor.  And I’m — we’re on track to set a new record for production next year.

I would need to find where the 12 million barrels of oil per day number came from cause he’d tweet about it. I found that number. I did not, though I probably should have, prepare for charts. I can tell you he found those chart numbers at the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s website EIA.gov.

Given the way the site is set up, finding the exact numbers used in the above charts, is not something I’m able to do–even though it’s set-up is similar to BLS.gov; the BLS site and I are old friends; the EIA and I are in the “getting to know you,” phase…

But I can confirm that we are producing roughly 12 million barrels of oil a day.

The daily press briefing is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. D.C., time.

This is an Open Thread.
