On Tuesday, The House Committee investigating the events leading up to and beyond the January 6th, 2021, attack on the Capitol will hold hearing number seven.
The hearing was scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. D.C., time but has been postponed until 1:00 p.m. D.C., time.
CBS News, NPR, and New York Times, all say today’s hearing will focus on the role extremist groups such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers played in the attacked on the Capitol. It will also explore the ties between said extremist asshole groups and Twice Impeached 45.
Business Insider reported on June 30th, 2022, that according to the lawyer of Proud Boys leader Elmer Stewart Rhodes, that when he and eight others face trial for seditious conspiracy this fall they will say they believed they’d become a federal militia.
James Lee Bright, a lawyer for Rhodes, acknowledged that most people will be shocked to learn the Oath Keepers thought they’d become a federal militia. “They believe what?” Bright imagined people thinking. “These guys are fucking crazy.”Business Insider. 06/30/2022.
Bright hopes to convince a jury that the asshole group had two lawful reasons not seditious reasons to be at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021.
Reason one: They were an invited security force for rally planners and participants, including Roger Stone, Ali Alexander, Latinos for Trump, and Virginia Women for Trump.
Reason two: They were awaiting Trump’s orders.Business Insider. 06/30/2022.
I agree with the lawyer’s comments about normal people thinking those guys are “fucking crazy”.
