Continuing now with our long-standing tradition of starting off Mondays slow and easy, the Night Owl presents two dulcet voices cut from similar cloth. They were contemporaries in many ways. Coincidentally, both were born in 1942 and lived to the age of 78 years.

While Thomas was primarily a singer, Davis was also a prolific songwriter who created more tunes for others than he did for himself, including Elvis, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Bobby Goldsboro, Bruno Mars, Weezer, and others.
These aren’t their only hits, but they are the ones that they are best remembered for. Nearly all the songs they sang crossed over into multiple charts: pop/top 40, country, adult contemporary.
