There once was a young laddie name o’ Mahoney,
Who took for a stage name Eddie Money,
He quit bein’ a cop,
Into music he did drop,
Sang, Wanna Be A Rock ’N’ Roll Star – no baloney.
Okay, so after he quit the NYPD, it took him nearly ten years to become an overnight success with a pair of 1978 breakout hits: Baby Hold On, and Two Tickets to Paradise. After 1986, his hard-driving sound began to mellow. You may not have heard these later tracks before – but they charted at the time and range from not bad to interesting to pretty good.
