The news these days is often depressing at worst and frustrating at best. It’s easy to let it get us down. Never fear… The News Blender has you covered. Once a week we feature Something Good and, in return, all you have to do is tell us something good that has happened to you this week, something you are thankful for, a joke, a cute animal story, an inspiring tale of heroics, a Random Act of Kindness… SOMETHING good.
Today’s something good is going the extra mile.
Kira Rumfola was flying home on Southwest Airlines after her freshman year of college in Florida. She wasn’t flying alone – her father and Theo were flying home with her. Unfortunately, Theo, being a fish, wasn’t allowed to fly with her. A customer service agent tried to help Kira but none of the options were feasible.
That’s when Ismael stepped in. He and Jamee, his fiancé, both Southwest Airlines employees, offered to take Theo and care for him until Kira returned in the fall.
They bought Theo a bigger aquarium and sent Kira text updates and pictures of Theo during the four months he was in their care.

Almost four months later, Kira returned to Tampa for her sophomore year and met up with the couple to reunite with Theo! 🥺 #SouthwestHeart pic.twitter.com/FYE1mzTQlA

Taking care of someone else’s pet when there is absolutely no reason for you to do so, other that simple compassion and kindness, is a good thing. Now it’s your turn… Tell me something good!
