President Biden has tweeted…

He’s posted 2 tweets so far for Thursday.

His full statement:

I commend yesterday’s peace accord in Nigeria, signed by the political parties and candidates running in Nigeria’s presidential election on February 25.  By signing this pledge, the parties and candidates have committed to accept the results of the election, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, and to support a peaceful transition of power.

Elections are a fundamental part of a functioning democracy, and all Nigerians deserve this chance to choose their future — freely and fairly.  While the United States does not support any single candidate or party, we strongly support a peaceful and transparent process that reflects the will of the people of Nigeria.  On election day, I encourage all Nigerians — no matter their religion, region, or ethnicity —to exercise this fundamental freedom and make their voices heard — including young voters, many of whom may be heading to the ballot box for the first time.

The United States stands with the Nigerian people as they chart a path toward a more democratic, prosperous, and secure future.  I appreciate President Buhari’s firm commitment that the will of the people will be respected.  And in the coming days, I encourage voters to remain peaceful and patient as their ballots are tallied, and urge the political parties and candidates to live up to their pledge.

According to AfricaNews.com on Wednesday, the top four Nigerian presidential candidates signed a “peace” deal”, ahead of Saturday’s presidential elections.

They go on to say; The head of the Nigerian electoral commission confirmed the organisation is ready to hold the election. “The signing of the Peace Accord today comes at a critical moment in the electoral calendar. Campaign for Presidential and National Assembly elections ends at midnight tomorrow Thursday 23rd February 2023. Election will hold on Saturday this week. INEC is ready”, said the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission,Mahmood Yakubu. Past presidential elections in Nigeria have been marred by violence, fraud, court challenges and a rise in ethnic tensions.

Remarks from Poland 02/21/2023:

President Biden: Democracies of the world will stand guard over freedom today, tomorrow, and forever.  (Applause.)  For that’s what — that’s what’s at stake here: freedom.

Remarks from Poland 02/21/2023:

President Biden: In that darkest moment of their lives, you, the people of Poland, offered them safety and light.  You embraced them.  You literally embraced them.  I watched.  I watched the looks on their faces.

Remarks from Poland 02/21/2023:

President Biden: President Putin — President Putin is confronted with something today that he didn’t think was possible a year ago.  The democracies of the world have grown stronger, not weaker.  But the autocrats of the world have grown weaker, not stronger. Because in the mo- — moments of great upheaval and uncertainty, that knowing what you stand for is most important, and knowing who stands with you makes all the difference.

The below tweets were posted yesterday afternoon my time and retweeted by @NWS the official Twitter account for @NOAA‘s National Weather Service.

Voice of America (VOA News.Com) said on Wednesday; U.S. President Joe Biden and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday attended the summit of the so-called Bucharest Nine, or B-9, countries on NATO’s easternmost flank; Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia. This little-known grouping is an initiative launched in 2015 by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and Polish President Andrzej Duda. It is aimed at enhancing cooperation among NATO’s newest members to support the alliance’s objectives of improving security and stability between the Baltic and Black Seas.

The White House posted the following readout of; President Biden’s Meeting with the Leaders of the Bucharest Nine Eastern Flank NATO Allies

President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. met today with the Bucharest Nine (B9) group of our eastern flank NATO Allies as well as NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to underscore the U.S. commitment to Transatlantic security. Ahead of the one year anniversary of Russia’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine, leaders reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine and underscored their shared commitment to stand with the Ukrainian people for as long as it takes. They discussed the strengthened defensive posture on NATO’s eastern flank, and President Biden reiterated the United States’ ironclad commitment to NATO’s Article 5. They looked forward to further strengthening Alliance unity and collective defense at the NATO Summit in Vilnius in July.

  • Hungarian President Katalin Novak
  • Latvian President Egils Levits
  • Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda

Remarks from Poland 02/21/2023:

The video snip is 26 seconds long.

President Biden: One year in- — one year into this war, Putin no longer doubts the strength of our coalition.  But he still doubts our conviction.  He doubts our staying power.  He doubts our continued support for Ukraine.  He doubts whether NATO can remain unified. But there should be no doubt: Our support for Ukraine will not waver, NATO will not be divided, and we will not tire.  (Applause.)

A readout from the White House posted on 09/26/2022 says in part: The President commended the Council’s members for the impressive work done over the last year, and highlighted several examples of initiatives to delivering cost-savings for American consumers:

  1. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has taken steps to address the nearly $30 billion in ”junk fees”—such as late fees, overdraft fees, bounced check fees—that Americans pay every year. Spurred by CFPB actions, three-quarters of the nation’s 20 largest banks are getting rid of bounced check charges. And the overall level of overdraft fees is on track to be down $3 billion in 2022, compared to pre-pandemic levels.
