Meeting on Progress to Counter the Flow of Fentanyl into the United States Tweet

From Tuesday…

President Biden Holds a Meeting on Progress to Counter the Flow of Fentanyl into the United States @11:00 a.m. D.C., time (replay; I assume this will not a be a long stream; I assumed correctly):

Transgender Remembrance Day Tweet

From Monday…

His full statement:

There is no place for hate in America and no one should be discriminated against simply for being themselves. Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance we are reminded that there is more to do meet that promise, as we grieve the 26 transgender Americans whose lives were taken this year. While each one of these deaths is a tragedy – the true toll of those victimized is likely even higher, with the majority of those targeted being women of color.

It’s unacceptable and it’s why my Administration has taken action to strengthen the rights, and protect the safety of transgender and all LGBTQI+ Americans. My Administration ended the ban on transgender Americans serving our country and I signed historic executive action to strengthen civil rights protections for all LGBTQI+ Americans. The Department of Homeland Security, with support from the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services, have launched the LGBTQI+ Community Safety Partnership that works hand-in-hand with LGBTQI+ community organizations to provide critical safety resources. We must never be silent in the face of hate. As we mourn the loss of transgender Americans taken too soon this year, we must also recommit ourselves to never stop fighting until all Americans can live free from discrimination.

Pardons the National Thanksgiving Turkey–Liberty and Bell Tweets

From Monday…

The video clip is 16 seconds long. There is no voice over only music. I lol’d. It’s cute.

Remarks by President Biden at Pardoning of the National Turkey; the YouTube is 6 minutes and 57 seconds long.

One thing I want to make clear that was not clear then — you know, even though Liberty and Bell are from Minnesota, they’re named for a famous Liberty Bell in Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.

These birds have a new appreciation for the word “Let Freedom Ring.” (Laughter.)

White House.gov. 11/20/2023.

From Tuesday…

The video clip is 37 seconds long.

I hereby pardon Liberty and Bell.  (Applause.)  All right.

[snip]

So, I’m told by the Turkey Federation of Liberty Bell — and Liberty and Bell, they love Honeycrisp apples — (applause) — not bad, huh?; ice hockey — I sure in hell would like to see them play ice hockey; 1,000 [10,000] Lakes; and the Mall of America.  (Applause.)

[snip]

This is the 76th anniversary of this event.  And I want you to know I wasn’t there at the first one.  (Laughter.)  I was too young to make it up.  (Laughs.)

[snip]

This week, we’ll gather with the people we love and the traditions that each of us have built up in our own families.

[snip]

And to days ahead, our families and friends travel and come together to celebrate Thanksgiving, we can all give thanks to the gift that is our nation.

Live look @Me this morning when the Threads embedded in the post…

Here’s the thing…

I’ve been trying to figure out how to move on from Twitter as it relates to the noon open thread; the post would still cover all things President Biden related–just not all the tweets.

The reason?

Preaching to the choir, but in case some unknown cave dweller reads this…

It’s getting harder to use Twitter–the function of the site is shit, finding updated correct information is a rabbit hole deeper than Alice fell down…

It’s getting harder to support the open–hate, sexism, racism, and fascism, sometimes it’s all four in one post.

It’s getting the hardest to support Musk in any way at all…

So, I’m hoping that the White House social media team posts more on Threads in the coming weeks.

I should also disclose that this does not mean I will delete my Twitter account as we near ever closer to the 2024 Presidential election cycle; this means more screen grabs that will need verified as “real” or “fake” and without access to Twitter or even *shudder* Truth Social that would be a near impossible task.

Remembering Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter Tweet

From Monday…

The video clip is 15 seconds long. There is no audio.

The above tweet was President Biden’s 2nd Threads post…

The Biden’s full statement:

First Lady Rosalynn Carter walked her own path, inspiring a nation and the world along the way.

Throughout her incredible life as First Lady of Georgia and the First Lady of the United States, Rosalynn did so much to address many of society’s greatest needs. She was a champion for equal rights and opportunities for women and girls; an advocate for mental health and wellness for every person; and a supporter of the often unseen and uncompensated caregivers of our children, aging loved ones, and people with disabilities.

Above all, the deep love shared between Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter is the definition of partnership, and their humble leadership is the definition of patriotism.  She lived her life by her faith.

Time and time again, during the more than four decades of our friendship – through rigors of campaigns, through the darkness of deep and profound loss – we always felt the hope, warmth, and optimism of Rosalynn Carter. She will always be in our hearts.

On behalf of a grateful nation, we send our love to President Carter, the entire Carter family, and the countless people across our nation and the world whose lives are better, fuller, and brighter because of the life and legacy of Rosalynn Carter.

May God bless our dear friend.

May God bless a great American.

White House.gov. 11/19/2023.

Statement from Vice President Kamala Harris on the Passing of Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter:

First Lady Rosalynn Carter lived a life of service, faith, compassion, and unmatched moral leadership.

During her time in the White House, Rosalynn Carter redefined the role of First Lady. Through her courageous advocacy, Mrs. Carter helped bring the issue of mental health out from the shadows into the national spotlight and served as a champion for America’s caregivers. On her trips abroad, Mrs. Carter worked to advance human rights and human dignity.

After leaving the White House, Mrs. Carter continued to serve our nation and the world—in particular, through her leadership of the Carter Center, which she founded with President Jimmy Carter to promote peace, improve public health, and support freedom and democracy around the globe.

As a humanitarian, a public servant, and a global leader, Mrs. Carter improved the lives of millions—and inspired countless more to dedicate their lives to service. Her legacy will be a beacon for generations to come.

Doug and I send our prayers to President Carter and the entire Carter family.

White House.gov. 11/19/2023.

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter was 96 years old; Her and former President Carter were married 77 years. May she Rest in Peace.
