Fourth of July Tweets

From Thursday…

The video clip is 24 seconds long.

The words in the clip are a mash up of times President Biden said: We just have to remember who we are, for God’s sake. We’re the United States of America and there is nothing–nothing–nothing–nothing beyond our capacity when we work together.

The transcript for President Biden hasn’t been posted yet. They posted Remarks as Prepared for Delivery by First Lady Jill Biden at a Barbeque with Military Service Members and Their Families; the YouTube is 13 minutes and 23 seconds long.

Remarks by President Biden and Vice President Harris at Independence Day Celebration (July 4, 2024); the YouTube is 21 minutes and 13 seconds long (there is a slight delay between the President and VP’s very short–like super short remarks and when the fireworks start.

The video clip is 10 seconds long. There is no sound.

Jobs Report Friday Tweets

From Friday…

Show more =’s We have more work to do, but wages are growing faster than prices, and we’re seeing the highest share of working-age Americans in the workforce in over 20 years. That’s real progress for hardworking families who have the dignity and respect that comes with earning a paycheck and putting food on the table.

Show more =’s While Republican officials fight for Park Avenue, I’ll keep fighting for families in Scranton.

BLS.gov said on Friday; Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 206,000 in June, and the unemployment rate changed little at 4.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in government, health care, social assistance, and construction.

The revisions:

The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for April was revised down by 57,000, from +165,000 to +108,000, and the change for May was revised down by 54,000, from +272,000 to +218,000. With these revisions, employment in April and May combined is 111,000 lower than previously reported. (Monthly revisions result from additional reports received from businesses and government agencies since the last published estimates and from the recalculation of seasonal factors.)

Statement from President Joe Biden on the June Jobs Report

With today’s report that 206,000 jobs were created last month, a record 15.7 million jobs have been created during my Administration. We have more work to do, but wages are growing faster than prices and more Americans are joining the workforce, with the highest share of working-age Americans in the workforce in over 20 years. That’s real progress for hardworking families who have the dignity and respect that comes with earning a paycheck and putting food on the table.

Too many Americans are still feeling squeezed by the cost of the living. I’m fighting to lower costs by taking on corporate price gouging, capping the cost of insulin and prescription drugs, and calling on Congress to lower rent by building 2 million new homes. Congressional Republicans have a different vision that sides with billionaires and special interests and will supercharge inflation. They’ll impose high consumer tariffs that will cost middle class families thousands of dollars each year,  give a giant tax cut to the wealthy, repeal the Affordable Care Act, and allow big corporations to keep ripping off Americans. While they fight for Park Avenue, I’ll keep fighting for working families like the ones I grew up with in Scranton.

There is no “new” from the White House today; catch up on Monday…
