Britain sanctioned Kirillov in October 2024 for what the UK Foreign Office termed “abhorrent use of inhumane chemical weapons” and being “a significant mouthpiece for Kremlin disinformation.” Kirillov also made controversial claims about the COVID-19 pandemic being deliberately created by the US, alleged the existence of US-backed biolabs in Ukraine targeting “Slavic ethnicity,” and accused the Pentagon of orchestrating the Kakhovka dam breach in Ukraine to spread diseases.
