Since Kamala and I took office, our nation has become stronger at home and in the world.
— President Biden (@POTUS) January 13, 2025
America today is more capable and prepared than we have been for a long time.
While competitors are facing stiff headwinds, we have the wind at our back.
This is what we're handing over.
Before I took office, 9 of our NATO allies were spending 2 percent of GDP on defense.
— President Biden (@POTUS) January 13, 2025
Now, 23 are.
Our alliances are stronger than they’ve been in decades and NATO is bigger and more capable than ever.
As I saw it, when Putin launched his invasion, I had two jobs: to rally the world to defend Ukraine and avoid war between two nuclear powers.
— President Biden (@POTUS) January 13, 2025
We did both.
And we've laid the foundation for the next administration to preserve a bright future for the Ukrainian people.
The U.S. should take full advantage of the diplomatic and geopolitical opportunities my Administration is handing over.

Readout of President Joe Biden’s Call with Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel
President Biden spoke today with Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel. The two leaders discussed the ongoing negotiations in Doha for a ceasefire and hostage release deal based on the May 27, 2024 arrangement described by the President last year and endorsed unanimously by the UN Security Council. The President discussed the fundamentally changed regional circumstances following the ceasefire deal in Lebanon, the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, and the weakening of Iran’s power in the region. He stressed the immediate need for a ceasefire in Gaza and return of the hostages with a surge in humanitarian aid enabled by a stoppage in the fighting under the deal. The Prime Minister thanked the President for his lifelong support of Israel and for the extraordinary support from the United States for Israel’s security and national defense.
