As you all know an American Airline Jet carrying 64 people and an Army helicopter collided midair before plunging into the Potomac River. Officials believe at this time there are no survivors and search and rescue has now turned into a recovery operation.
According to the Washington Post live updates (gift link) officials so far have recovered 28 bodies from the Jet and one body from the helicopter.
According to the Washington Post’s live updates the Kremlin says that two former figure skaters were aboard the flight; When Vadim Naumov first met Evgenia Shishkova in 1985, he didn’t want to skate with her, despite the urging of his coach. But after his own partner became ill, he gave it a try. And then another, and then another. A decade and many medals later, the two were married. On Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that both had died in the Potomac plane crash, along with many other figure skaters.
