It’s Wednesday…
President Shitshow’s public schedule for 01/29/2025:
9:00 AM In-Town Pool Call Time The White House In-Town Pool |
2:00 PM The President signs the Laken Riley Act into law East Room Pre-Credentialed Media |
They don’t have the YouTube set up yet; you can find it @ The White House just before it’s ready to start…
For the record I’m struggling with today’s post.
Part of me doesn’t really give a shit anymore about what Shitshow is doing.
Part of me is fed up with what Shitshow is doing.
Part of me just hates not having the ability to cover everything that Shitshow and by extension what Republicans are doing on the daily to remake America into the United States of MAGA…
There’s a lot of parts to me…
So with that mini-rant out of the way, let’s press on.
The Department of Justice…
Has decided to nix the rest of the Documents case…
New: DOJ is dropping efforts to revive federal charges against Donald Trump’s former co-defendants in the classified documents case, meaning no higher court review of Judge Cannon's order dismissing the case on the grounds that the special counsel was unconstitutional. This might be good news in so far as we might get to see Jack Smith’s report on how President Shitshow fucked us over the first time he played President…
Highlights from the first White House Press Briefing…
Press Briefing by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt; the YouTube is 46 minutes and 54 seconds long.
Karoline Leavitt: "DOGE and OMB also found that there was about to be 50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza. That is a preposterous waste of taxpayer dollars." pic.twitter.com/mbdAOg12b3

I found this thread interesting regarding the fact-checking on how much US tax dollars go to cover condoms…
The source for this claim is WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Her position gives her some credibility, but it's also her job to represent the current administration which means that her remarks may be biased.

For additional context, this news article from Sept. 2024 explains that the purpose of a recent aid package to Gaza was to provide "humanitarian aid, including food assistance, healthcare, nutrition and other services."https://t.co/c5vW4GzFDG

So was $50 million in condoms really being sent to Gaza? Probably not. If would be good to wait for credible sources to confirm or debunk this claim.

But it seems like one small aspect of an aid package (condoms) is being misrepresented here.
Leavitt: "The water has been turned back on in California, and this comes just days after President Trump visited" pic.twitter.com/Pl5NoaBD4w

Here’s the question asked…
Q: Thank you, Karoline. On California, could you please clarify what the military did with the water last night, as referenced in the president’s Truth Social post?
This is how she answers…
The water has been turned back on in California, and this comes just days after President Trump visited Pacific Palisades and, as you all saw, applied tremendous pressure on state and local officials in Pacific Palisades, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, to turn on the water and to direct that water to places in the south and in the middle of the state that have been incredibly dry, which has led to the expansion — the rapid expansion of these fires.

As I said yesterday, the military did not turn Cali’s water back on.
I found this in Arron’s video clip thread…
The military did not come to my state and turn the water back on.

Offers to pay people to get paid to resign…
The White House announced details Tuesday of a “deferred resignation” offer it made to federal employees that allows them to resign with pay through Sept. 30.
— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) January 29, 2025
Here’s what we know about the offer. https://t.co/TVTAqa24lD
Washington Post (gift link):
Here’s what we know about the offer, which affects the majority of the 2.3 million workers employed by the government and was made in an email blast Tuesday afternoon. It is the latest step the Trump administration has taken to reshape the federal workforce — including ordering most federal workers back to the office, firing inspectors general at several agencies and directing the government to lay off staff working on diversity, equity and inclusion.
Federal workers who accept the deferred resignation offer will remain employed, retain all pay and benefits, and be exempt from in-person work requirements until their final resignation date of Sept. 30, according to the Office of Personnel Management.
[snip]
Those who accept the deal are not expected to work, according to an FAQ published by OPM. This is the most common question about the deferred resignation office, according to a post from the “Department of Governmental Efficiency,” run by billionaire Elon Musk, account on Musk’s platform X.

If it were me, I’d say “no deal”…
But that’s just me…
