Federal Reserve Left Rates Unchanged…

Yesterday, the Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged.

The link shared above is a link to a transcript of the presser held after the Fed meeting.

In this clip from his presser he says “tariff inflation”.

From the transcript:

Q: Nick Timiraos, The Wall Street Journal. Chair Powell, Chair Greenspan once defined price stability as an environment in which inflation is so low and stable over time that it doesn’t materially enter into the decisions of households and firms. Can you say that today that we have that price stability? That households and businesses are lowering in price or do you see, by an advanced psychology, big changes in inventories and surveys that show consumers, at least in the short run, expect higher inflation?

Powell: So, I do like that definition a lot, in fact, I used it at the recent conference where I spoke. So, I think a world where people can make their daily economic decisions and businesses and they’re not having to think about the possibility of significantly high inflation. We know inflation will bounce around, that’s, that is price stability. You know, I think we were getting closer and closer to that. I wouldn’t say we were at that. Inflation was running around 2 and 1/2 percent for some time. I do think with the arrival of the tariff inflation, further progress may be delayed if the SEP doesn’t really show further downward progress on inflation this year. And that’s really due to the tariffs coming in. So, delayed, but if you look at our forecast, we do see ourselves getting back into the low twos in ’26, and then down to two by ’27, of course highly uncertain. So, I see progress having been made toward that, and then progress in the future, I think that progress is probably delayed for the time being.

From his opening statement:

Powell: Economic activity continued to expand at a solid pace in the fourth quarter of last year, with GDP rising at 2.3 percent. Recent indications, however, point to a moderation in consumer spending following the rapid growth seen over the second half of 2024. Surveys of households and businesses point to heightened uncertainty about the economic outlook. It remains to be seen how these developments might affect future spending and investment. In our Summary of Economic Projections, the median participant projects GDP to rise 1.7 percent this year, somewhat lower than projected in December, and to rise a bit below 2 percent over the next two years.

In light of President Shitshow firing two people from the FTC, Kaitlan Collins with CNN asked NEC Director Kevin Hassett if that could pave the way to firing say “the Fed Chair”…

He said he doesn’t believe Shitshow will fire Powell; Powell’s term expires in May of 2026.

Shortly after that, President Shitshow responded to the Fed’s decision to leave interest rates unchanged.

Government Kidnaps More People…

Federal immigration authorities have detained a graduate student from India who was teaching at Georgetown University on a student visa, his attorney said Wednesday.

Masked agents arrested the student, Badar Khan Suri, outside his home in Arlington, Virginia, on Monday night, attorney Hassan Ahmad said.

The agents identified themselves as being with the Department of Homeland Security and told him the government had revoked his visa, Ahmad said.

NBC News. 03/19/2025.

Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said on Twitter that Suri, was spreading propaganda and has close ties to a senior advisor of Hamas.

Show more =’s The Secretary of State issued a determination on March 15, 2025 that Suri’s activities and presence in the United States rendered him deportable under INA section 237(a)(4)(C)(i).

From Politico:

According to Suri’s petition for release, he was put in deportation proceedings under the same rarely used provision of immigration law that the government has invoked to try to deport Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University graduate student and green card holder who led pro-Palestinian protests on campus. That provision gives the secretary of State the power to deport noncitizens if the secretary determines that their continued presence in the U.S. would threaten foreign policy.

Suri has no criminal record and has not been charged with a crime, his petition says. His detention and petition have not been previously reported.

Suri’s lawyer, Hassan Ahmad, argued in his petition that Suri is being punished because of the Palestinian heritage of his wife — who is a U.S. citizen — and because the government suspects that he and his wife oppose U.S. foreign policy toward Israel.

The petition says the couple has “long been doxxed and smeared” on anonymously run, far-right websites due to their support for Palestinian rights. The petition also says that Suri’s wife, Mapheze Saleh, has been alleged to have “ties with Hamas” and once worked for Al Jazeera.

Border Czar and all around piece of shit Tom Homan also confirmed the kidnapping of a legal resident via Twitter.

The video clip is 5 seconds long and has no sound. I’m not sure why the piece of shit shared it, but there you are.

ABC News:

The Biden administration expanded the use of the CBP One phone application to allow migrants to submit some background information and schedule appointments with immigration officials at ports of entry. Officials would then determine if the person could be allowed into the country, some in order to submit an asylum claim. President Donald Trump eliminated that feature during his first days in office.

The Department of Homeland Security has accused Barrios of having a gang-affiliated tattoo and claimed a photo of him showed him displaying gang signs. ABC News has reached out to DHS.

The tattoo in question showed a crown sitting on top of a soccer ball with a rosary and the word “Dios” (God), according to Tobin. A declaration from the tattoo artist confirmed that Barrios chose it because it was similar to the Real Madrid soccer team logo, the attorney said. According to Tobin, those alleged gang signs were the hand symbol for rock and roll and “I love you” in sign language.

Tobin also said she submitted records from Venezuela that indicated Barrios had no criminal record in his home country and was employed as a professional soccer player and children’s soccer coach.

Barrios was transferred out of maximum security after submitting this evidence and had a hearing set for April 17, according to his attorney.

Around March 10 or 11, Tobin said her client was transferred to Texas without notice and was promptly deported to El Salvador on March 15.

“Counsel and family have lost all contact with him and have no information” about his whereabouts, Tobin wrote in the court documents.

Minnesota state senator who was caught in a sting operation resigned under fire Thursday after he was charged with soliciting a minor for prostitution.

Republican Justin Eichorn, of Grand Rapids, submitted his resignation in a letter to Gov. Tim Walz, Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson said in a statement.

“This is the right thing to do for his family and the Senate,” Johnson said. “We are ready to move on and do the important work that needs to be done at the Capitol.”

[snip]

“I saw your post and (sic) chance you are still available tonight?” one asked, according to an FBI affidavit, while a later message asked, “What’s a guy gota do to get with the hottest girl online tonight.”

After his arrest, officers seized two cell phones, a condom and $129 in cash.

The federal charge is attempted coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in prostitution. Six other suspects were arrested in the sting, prosecutors said.

NBC News. 03/2025.

Eichorn’s claim to fame was filing a bill that would make “Trump Derangement Syndrome” a mental illness.
